Mariah Carey to Kick Off Netflix’s Christmas NFL Games with Holiday Performance
The Queen of Christmas is helping Netflix and the NFL kick off its first-ever Christmas Day game on a high note. The streaming service announced Thursday that Mariah Carey will perform ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs-Pittsburgh Steelers game on Dec. 25. The veteran songstress will, of course, perform her all-time classic and current No. 1 song in the country, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” While the performance is pre-taped, Netflix promises viewers all the holiday cheer and enjoyment.

BuzzFeed Sells First We Feast, ‘Hot Ones’ to Sean Evans & Co. for $82.5M
BuzzFeed has sold First We Feast, the food and pop culture entertainment firm behind the popular Hot Ones YouTube series, for $82.5 million in an all-cash agreement to a group of investors, the company confirmed Thursday. Backers include First We Feast founder Chris Schonberger, Hot Ones host and co-creator Sean Evans, Crooked Media, YouTubers Rhett and Link’s Mythical Entertainment, and Soros Fund Management, the investment firm founded by billionaire George Soros. BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti said that selling off First We Feast “marks an important step in BuzzFeed, Inc.’s strategic transformation into a media company positioned to fully benefit from the ongoing AI revolution.”

Thanks to Spotify, top fans of The Weeknd will be finally rewarded for streaming his music for hours on end. Per Variety, the singer is celebrating having the most songs reach 1 billion streams on the audio platform with an exclusive concert for select supporters in the first-ever Billions Club Live in Los Angeles. Scheduled for Dec. 17, fans can expect a setlist of his 24 songs at the Billions Club, like “Starboy,” “Save Your Tears,” and others.
Chanel, Bottega Veneta Announce Creative Director Hires
The fashion industry has undergone major personnel changes as of late, and it continues Thursday with news that Chanel has appointed Matthieu Blazy as its new Artistic Director of Fashion Activities. Per WWD, Blazy, Bottega Veneta’s former Creative Director, will oversee all haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories collections. Speaking of Bottega, the Italian luxury fashion house has agreed to terms with Louise Trotter to succeed Blazy as its new Creative Director. Trotter arrives from the French brand Carven, where she has served as creative director since February 2023. She will join Bottega Veneta at the end of 2025.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Stock Jumps On Heels of Restructuring News
Following news that Warner Bros. Discovery said it was revamping its corporate network into a global linear TV division, independent from its streaming and studios division, shares of the entertainment company jumped 15% on Thursday. Changes are scheduled to take effect mid-2025, with President and CEO David Zaslav saying in part the shift “better aligns our organization and enhances our flexibility with potential future strategic opportunities across an evolving media landscape.”
