Fore-Point-Play: PGA Tour 2K23 Adds Stephen Curry as Playable Character

Last Updated: October 5, 2022
The reigning NBA Finals MVP is taking his talents to the virtual putting green in the upcoming release of PGA Tour 2K23.

The NBA’s best shooter could soon become your new favorite (digital) golfer.

On Monday, 2K revealed that Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will be a playable character in PGA Tour 2K23 when the game drops on Friday, Oct. 14. As far as basketball players trying their hand at golf is concerned, the reigning NBA Finals champion is in good company. Fellow basketball great Michael Jordan is also a playable competitor. Golf extraordinaire and five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods graces this edition’s cover.

What to expect

Calling the graphics crisp would be an understatement. In the teaser trailer posted to the PGA Tour’s official Twitter account, Curry is seen consulting with his caddie before assuming his swing position. Surrounded by a crowd of fans anxiously awaiting his next shot, the 14-year veteran is met with cheers as he fires a golf ball long.

Naturally, Curry is wearing pieces from his Under Armour golf collection in the trailer, including the Curry Iso-Chill Golf adjustable cap, Charged Curry SL shoes, Curry Polar polo shirt, and Curry Limitless shorts. In addition to a signature sneaker with the apparel brand, Curry and Under Armour also joined forces on an exclusive line of golf merch for those hoping to channel their inner champion while on the putting green.

Any fan of Curry, who has found considerable success on the hardwood, also knows just how passionate the father of three is about golf, too. In addition to competing in a number of golf tournaments over the years, the Curry Brand is also the official equipment, apparel, and footwear provider for Howard University’s golf program.

In 2019, the Davidson product also committed to funding Howard’s program for six years. This agreement includes staffing, recruiting, and operating costs, helping Howard’s men’s and women’s teams reach the NCAA Division I level for the first time ever.

Curry will be available to all gamers as a free download. For anyone who pre-ordered PGA Tour 2K23, Jordan will also be available to download for free. Players can organize a head-to-head competition between Curry, His Airness, Woods, and other pros like Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa.
