The months-long Cowboy Carter Tour to support Beyoncé’s historic Grammy-winning album just became the highest-grossing country tour in history. Per Billboard, the domestic and overseas jaunt grossed approximately $407.6 million with 1.2 million tickets sold across 32 shows. The tour is also the shortest to ever earn over $400 million, with Queen Bey extending her record as both the highest-grossing Black and R&B artist of all time.

Marvel dethroned DC Studios and Warner Bros. at the weekend box office, with The Fantastic Four: First Steps earning $118 million in its first weekend in North American theaters and an additional $100 million overseas. Although Superman experienced a 57% decline for $19.8 million in its third week, the rival superhero flick, along with F1: The Movie, cleared the $500 million mark over the weekend.

The Chicago Sky’s Sunday showdown against the Indiana Fever at the United Center recorded a sellout crowd of 19,601 fans, making it the second time this season they’ve sold out the home of the Chicago Bulls and Blackhawks. The teams did so without their respective stars in Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, who both didn’t play due to injury. However, both were in attendance for the Fever’s 93-78 win.

In a Monday press release, Warner Bros. Discovery announced the respective names of its two future businesses as the entertainment company prepares to split in mid-2026. The firm will be divided into two main entities: Warner Bros., which will oversee film, television, and game studios, including New Line Cinema, DC Studios, HBO, and HBO Max; and Discovery Global, which will manage the company’s portfolio of live cable channels such as CNN, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Discovery, and TLC.

Shoes worn by Kobe Bryant in his first start for the Los Angeles Lakers sold for $240,000 at SCP Auctions, the second-largest amount ever paid for a pair of the late legend’s shoes. The pair of Adidas EQT Top 10 trainers made their debut on Jan. 28, 1997, and feature Bryant’s signature on both shoes.

Erykah Badu is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her sophomore album Mama’s Gun with a short stint on the road this fall. The Mama’s Gun ’25: The Return of Automatic Slim Tour begins Oct. 3 in Hollywood, making stops in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Nashville along the way before ending in Irving, Texas, on Dec. 10. Making his first-ever appearance at Comic-Con over the weekend, George Lucas revealed that rare artifacts from the Star Wars and Marvel universes are headed to the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, set to open in Los Angeles next year. Calling it “a temple to the people’s art,” future visitors can look forward to seeing Luke’s X-34 Landspeeder from A New Hope, Anakin’s N-1 Starfighter from The Phantom Menace, the original 1968 drawing of Iron Man’s first cover, the original drawings of Black Panther from 1968, and much more.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed the EV company has signed a $16.5 billion deal with Samsung Electronics to produce AI chips. Samsung’s new chip factory in Taylor, Texas, will produce Tesla’s next-generation AI6 chip that will be used in humanoid robots, self-driving cars, and AI data centers.

IMAX is getting into the AI wave, agreeing to terms with Runway AI to present commercial screenings of selections from the company’s AI Film Festival. A total of 10 projects leveraging AI advancement tools in filmmaking will be selected as finalists from the 6,000 submissions in the festival and will be screened at 10 IMAX locations across the U.S. from Aug. 17 to 20. 

After more than two decades, the cult classic Bend It Like Beckham is getting a sequel, director Gurinder Chadha confirmed to Deadline. No plot details have been shared, but Chadha said she is “working really hard to make sure every character I bring back has a decent arc.” The Kenyan-born British filmmaker pointed to 2027 as a potential release to commemorate both the film’s 25th anniversary and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
