Shohei Ohtani’s worldwide dominance continues to grow, with MLB announcing Monday that the Dodgers star boasts the league’s most popular jersey. Based on sales of Nike jerseys from the Fanatics network of sites since the World Series, Ohtani is followed by Freddie Freeman, Juan Soto, Mookie Betts, and Aaron Judge in the top five. The trio of Dodgers likely received a boost from playing in the Tokyo Series to kick off the season, which saw Fanatics bring in $40 million, a company record for a special event. 

A People feature on John Cena revealed that he recently battled a skin cancer scare. Sharing his story while simultaneously announcing a new partnership with Neutrogena, Cena said that after visiting the dermatologist for a routine skin checkup, he had to have cancerous spots removed from his chest and shoulder. Neutrogena’s “Sunscreen You Can’t See” campaign is a play off of the WWE star’s famous “You Can’t See Me” catchphrase. 

Mortgage company Rocket is acquiring competitor Mr. Cooper for $9.4 billion in an all-stock deal. With the new addition, Rocket claims it will now represent one in every six mortgages in the United States, bringing in almost 7 million new clients. This is the latest money move by Rocket as it attempts to take over the industry by creating a one-stop shopping experience for home buyers. Earlier in March, Rocket bought Redfin for $1.75 billion, pushing its monthly total to over $11B.

Music label BMG reported record profits in 2024, generating $1.04 billion behind the strength of hit songs from artists like Rita Ora and Jelly Roll. Digital revenue was a large contributor, jumping 16% on its own to account for 68% of the year’s total revenue. BMG also made new deals with numerous artists across multiple genres last year, including Mustard, YG, and Blake Shelton.

The self-proclaimed “greatest team ever” is getting the documentary treatment. Former UNLV men’s basketball players Larry Johnson, Stacey Augmon, and Anderson Hunt revealed that a new film chronicling the famous 1989-90 UNLV Runnin’ Rebels team is coming this fall. The four-part series titled UNLV: Kings Of Vegas celebrates the 35th anniversary of the team winning the NCAA title national championship. “It was long overdue … to tell the story through our eyes,” Hunt said in an interview with TMZ. 

Caitlin Clark is known for setting records on the court, but the Indiana Fever star just inadvertently set a record off the hardwood as well. A rookie card signed by Clark sold for $336,000 on Saturday night at an auction hosted by Goldin, the highest price ever paid for a women’s sports card. The previous record card featured Serena Williams, purchased for $266,400 in 2022. 

Veteran director Zack Snyder is partnering with the UFC to write and direct an action-packed fight film titled Brawler. It’s the latest big-screen gamble that Dana White is making, after having taken over the Las Vegas Sphere last September for the venue’s first live sporting event. Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia and owner of The Ring Magazine, will be listed as an executive producer on the movie. 

With the Masters just around the corner, Adidas is preparing for the first major of the year by relaunching its Originals Golf collection. Featuring the Trefoil logo, the capsule will include course-ready polos and pants, updated Stan Smith and Samba golf shoes, and accessories such as head covers, a golf towel, and even a premium bag. Adidas ambassador Ludvig Aberg is expected to rock the Originals Golf collection at the Masters on April 10-13.

On the first day of CinemaCon, AMC confirmed plans to expand its partnership with Dolby and add 40 Dolby Cinema premium auditoriums at AMC locations across the U.S. through the end of 2027. The near 25% increase brings the total number to over 200 nationwide. This is welcomed news, with forthcoming blockbusters like F1, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Avatar: Fire and Ash expected to bring thousands to the theaters this year and beyond.

The NFL added four new NFL teams and two new markets to its Global Markets Program on Monday. The Ravens were awarded rights in the United Kingdom; the Packers in Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom; the Chargers in Greece; and the Commanders in the United Arab Emirates, with the latter two being the new markets for 2025. Teams now have a five-year term to “pursue activities that are consistent with what they can do in their home domestic market.”
