PSG to Open Flagship Store in New York City

The nine-time French champions will introduce their second US-based retail location on March 18, setting up shop on Manhattan’s 5th Avenue.

French soccer titans Paris Saint-Germain are coming to America. On Friday, March 18, PSG will be having a grand opening for its new flagship retail store located at 587 5th Ave in New York City. The store is being opened by Fanatics and Lids. The store is open now but the ceremony will take place next Friday.

The club announced Monday the store will be the first-ever official New York City-based boutique for an international sports club.

The opening of the flagship location is PSG’s latest attempt to expand its commercial footprint globally. The nine-time Ligue 1 champions opened a similar store out west in Los Angeles last year. Elsewhere overseas, PSG has three boutiques in Japan, two in Doha, Qatar, and one in Seoul, South Korea.

The club, which currently sits atop the Ligue 1 table 13 points ahead of the closest challenger, boasts on its roster three of the finest players in the world’s most popular sport: Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Neymar.

“We didn’t have a store in New York, so the idea was to take this opportunity of the beautiful location. And thanks to the success of the first store we opened in LA we and our partner decided to move to the Big Apple,” said Fabien Allegre, brand director for PSG, in an interview with Boardroom. “I don’t know a lot of football clubs that have the capacity to have their own store in North America. North America is our number one market after the European market.”

The new store will feature an extensive product assortment of team jerseys, headwear, and accessories, including a full range of Nike and Jordan teamwear, one-of-a-kind collabs, fashion collections, and New York-inspired PSG designs exclusively available at the new location.

The anchor destination for Paris Saint-Germain fans in NYC and those from traveling to New York all over the world will get to experience a customization station — a signature feature present in many Lids retail locations — that allows fans to further personalize their PSG gear on-site. In addition, a few collectibles such as exclusive signed game and non-game jerseys as well as other football team items will also be available for purchase.

“New York is iconic, it’s one of the greatest cities in the world. Paris Saint-Germain given its location in Europe it’s a destination that is close to Europe,” said Britten Maughan, President of Lids. “PSG went on their first soccer tour in the United States 10 years ago, so in some ways, it’s memorializing that trip 10 years later to open up a flagship store in New York City that is the first of its kind.”

To go along with the opening, Paris Saint-Germain is partnering with NYC-based boutique creative studio, Fly Nowhere, to launch an initiative developing special projects and collaborative merchandise. Co-branded product drops will be inspired by local motifs in celebration of PSG landing in New York.

These drops will be available exclusively at the PSG NYC and Paris flagship stores.
