JJ Redick Inks Multi-Year ESPN Extension

Even after a long NBA career, JJ Redick is still signing contract extensions in retirement. ESPN announced that it reached a multi-year extension with the budding NBA analyst. Redick will have an expanded role beyond sporadic desk appearances. As part of the new agreement, Redick will have regular NBA game assignments, NBA Draft coverage, and appearances across ESPN programs Get Up, First Take, and SportsCenter.

Bitcoin Market Cap Surges Past $1T

Bitcoin is on the rise. Cautious investors had a moment of a reprieve this week, as Bitcoin boosted back over $20,000. With the increase in value, Bitcoin helped fuel the market cap for the cryptocurrency by over $1 trillion. This was welcome news after a difficult string of months, which has seen crypto values plummet in the wake of market shifts.

Kendrick Lamar Drops New Merch

The Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers tour was one of this summer’s hottest tickets. As Kendrick took to the stage, his fans rushed for the merch in droves. Now, he’s made it easier for all to access. The Grammy Award-winning rapper took to his social media accounts on Monday to reveal an extended line of merch that includes t-shirts, hoodies, and hats.

Puma Showcases Christian Pulisic’s Debut Collection

The countdown to the World Cup is on and USMNT star Christian Pulisic is ready for action. After signing with Puma last summer in a blockbuster deal, Pulisic is making his mark with a new collection. The collab features the brand new CP10 logo. The logo features bold graphics and USA-themed colors, inspired by Pulisic’s crusades with the US Men’s national team. Puma also released a CP10-inspired Ultra Ultimate soccer cleat, which will retail at $220.

Disney Seeks Legal Aid in Web3 Expansion

Disney is looking to dive deeper into the metaverse. To do so the company is building out the right team. According to a recent job posting, the Walt Disney Company is looking for a lawyer to help as it seeks to explore emerging technologies, including NFTs. The news comes just a short time after the company’s CEO, Bob Chapek, expressed his intentions for the company to dive into “the next generation of storytelling.”

GloRilla Reps Hometown in Memphis Grizzles Hype Video

Memphis rapper GloRilla is putting on for her city and her favorite team. Born and raised in Memphis, TN, the Yo Gotti signee worked with the Memphis Grizzles to narrate an epic hype video for the upcoming 2022-23 NBA season. Glo declared, “This is our city… everything we do here is big.” Previously, the rapper showed her Memphis allegiance by donating $25,000 to her alma mater, Martin Luther King College Prep High School.

Walmart Makes First Move into Metaverse

Walmart is making its official arrival in Web3. The big box retailer announced two upcoming metaverse experiences on the online gaming platform Roblox. Both Walmart Land and Walmart’s Universe of Play will feature a blimp that drops toys, a variety of different games, and a store of virtual merchandise. Walmart chief marketing officer William White indicated that the Roblox venture would serve as a testing ground as the company envisions its future in the metaverse. Additionally, the company is investing in its future consumer with child-tailored programming.
