Selena Gomez is the latest celebrity to reach billionaire status, as the actress, musician, and investor is now worth $1.3 billion, according to Bloomberg. Gomez’s massive wealth mainly comes from Rare Beauty Brands Inc., the makeup line that she founded in 2019. However, the Emmy Award nominee also has numerous brand deals, stars in a successful show in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, and is the co-founder of a mental health organization. Gomez is also the third-most followed person on Instagram behind Cristiano Ronaldo (638 million) and Lionel Messi (504 million).

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Foot Locker unveiled a limited-edition sneaker and apparel collection in collaboration with Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Puma, and Converse. Seven different silhouettes will drop on Sept. 9 — Adidas Samba and Superstar, New Balance 550 and 2002R, Nike Air Force 1 Low and Air Max Plus, Puma MB.01 Retro, and Converse Weapon Low. A feature-length documentary on the origins of late iconic rocker Jimi Hendrix is in the works. According to Deadline, The Greatest Night in Pop director Bao Nguyen is tasked with the project that chronicles the late musician’s unknown performance as a 23-year-old in London before a memorable set at the Monterey Pop Festival in the US a year later. With permission from the Hendrix estate, the doc will feature new interviews, never-before-seen photos, and restored archival footage, in addition to timeless Hendrix singles that ruled the charts.

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made $13 million at the box office in Thursday previews, Variety reported. The sequel to the 1988 flick sees Michael Keaton reprising his role as the title character alongside an all-star cast consisting of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe. As for its weekend performance, Variety is predicting earnings of $100 million to $110 million.

A Friday report from the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that 142,000 jobs were added in August, and the unemployment rate dropped from 4.3% to 4.2%. Per CNBC, the data falls short of economists’ prediction of 161,000 jobs. However, it surpassed the 114,000 jobs added in July and matched unemployment expectations. With interest rates at a 23-year high of 5.25% to 5.5% since last July, it begs the question of whether the Federal Open Market Committee will authorize a rate cut when it meets later this month.

The Miami Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey have reportedly agreed to a record-breaking contract extension Friday, making him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history for the second time in his career. The three-year deal is worth $72.3 million, according to numerous reports, meaning the Super Bowl champion will take home $24.1 million per season. Per the NFL, only four cornerbacks in the Super Bowl era have more All-Pro nods than Ramsey (3) – Deion Sanders (6), Rod Woodson (5), Darrelle Revis (4), and Willie Brown (4).

An Ocean’s 14 film is reportedly in development, and it could see Brad Pitt and George Clooney reprising their franchise roles that started with Ocean’s Eleven. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and Smokehouse will helm the production, and if negotiations go as planned, Edward Berger will replace Steven Soderbergh as director. Clooney and Pitt first made their respective debuts as Danny Ocean and Rusty Ryan when the 1960 remake of Ocean’s Eleven was released in 2001 and returned for two sequels, the last of which was 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen.
