Sue Bird Becomes First Player in WNBA History to Receive Statue
Sue Bird is set to become the first player to be honored with a statue by a WNBA franchise. The Seattle Storm announced Wednesday they’re unveiling the legend’s figurine on Aug. 17 outside of Climate Pledge Arena. Selected No. 1 overall in the 2022 WNBA Draft, Bird spent her entire 21-season career with the Storm, winning four championships and becoming a 13-time All-Star. Bird had her No. 10 jersey retired by the team in 2023.
Keanu Reeves Leads Docuseries on New Cadillac Formula 1 Team
As the Formula 1 community prepares to welcome Cadillac to the grid next year, a new docuseries hosted and executive-produced by Keanu Reeves will chronicle the team’s journey. Offering exclusive access to the team, the multi-part program “traces the creation of the sport’s newest and uniquely American team as it prepares for its debut at the 2026 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season opener in Melbourne.”
Tems Aims to Support Young Women in Music with New Initiative
Afrobeats superstar Tems announced Wednesday the launch of the Leading Vibe Initiative, a program designed to empower young women in the music industry. The platform will host its first activities in Lagos this August and aims to address the longstanding gender gap in the music industry by providing tools, mentorship, and access to resources for female artists, songwriters, and producers. Applications close July 13.
New York Knicks Reportedly Hire Mike Brown as New Head Coach
The New York Knicks appear to have found their next head coach after multiple reports Wednesday indicated they are working on a deal to hire two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown. Brown’s resume includes stints with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, and, most recently, the Sacramento Kings, where he led the team to its first playoff appearance since 2006.

Timothée Chalamet, Miley Cyrus, Emily Blunt, and Shaquille O’Neal are among 31 new honorees set to be welcomed to the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the coming year. Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith Inks Deal with Adidas
Adidas has added Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith to its growing roster of student-athlete partners. Smith, who will appear in multiple marketing campaigns, is the latest Buckeye to partner with the brand, following fellow receivers and former Ohio State players Emeka Egbuka and Garrett Wilson, who are already signed with Three Stripes.
FX Renews ‘The Bear’ for Fifth Season
After dropping Season 4 on Hulu last week, FX has already renewed The Bear for a fifth season, with chairman John Landgraf calling it “one of the best shows on television.” The dramedy made Emmy history in 2024 with 23 nominations for its second season, winning 11, the most ever for a comedy series in a single year.
Brooks Brothers, Prince Unveil Tennis Collection
Prince and Brooks Brothers are teaming up on a co-branded line of tennis-friendly apparel. Items include polos, rugby shirts, graphic tees, and track sets that reflect a modern iteration of 90s tennis culture, complete with vintage-looking imagery. Michele Kang’s London City Lionesses Partner with Nike
Ahead of their league debut in 2025-26, the London City Lionesses, the only fully independent club in the Barclays Women’s Super League owned by Michele Kang, have agreed to a two-year partnership with Nike. The Swoosh will serve as the club’s official kit supplier, with home, away, and third unis set to be unveiled in late July. Both sides will also promote athlete development and uplift women’s performance innovation while engaging with the local community in London.
Harlem Globetrotters to Host Open Tryouts Ahead of 100th Season
The Harlem Globetrotters are preparing to celebrate their 100th season next year by hosting their first-ever open player tryout. Auditions are scheduled for early fall, with the final team being assembled and announced in November, ready for a 2026 tip-off.
