Michael B. Jordan has released the first trailer for his reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair, which he directs, produces, and stars in. The film follows a sophisticated art thief who finds his match in an insurance investigator played by Adria Arjona, blending high-stakes heists with romance. Jordan has described the Amazon MGM Studios project as a fresh reimagining — not a remake — with an original story, a score by Jon Batiste, and a March 5, 2027 theatrical release.

Microsoft and Meta delivered contrasting quarterly results on Wednesday as AI investments continue to shape Big Tech. Microsoft shares rose in after-hours trading following the company’s beat on expectations, with Azure revenue topping $100 billion for the first time. Meanwhile, Meta stock fell as much as 9% after missing earnings forecasts and issuing lighter guidance, despite expanding AI spending and raising its full-year capital expenditure outlook. Apple and Amazon are set to report their quarterly earnings on Thursday. 

Notre Dame announced a new jersey patch partnership with financial services company SoFi, with the deal reportedly valued at $18 million-$20 million annually. The agreement will place SoFi’s logo on Notre Dame uniforms, including its iconic football jerseys, beginning this season. The deal comes on the heels of Ohio State’s reported $17 million annual jersey patch partnership with JPMorganChase, signaling a new wave of corporate investment in college athletics.

Zendaya is the new global face of Prada Beauty’s Paradoxe fragrance line, starring in a campaign directed by Oscar winner Barry Jenkins. The partnership launches alongside Prada Paradoxe Sweet Chemistry Eau de Parfum, the brand’s latest fragrance. Zendaya, who said she wore Paradoxe before joining the campaign, continues to expand her portfolio as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand stars, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey taking over the box office.

BTS will not submit its music for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, saying the group wants its work “to be heard and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language.” The decision follows the Recording Academy’s introduction of a new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category, which drew criticism from some fans who argued it could further separate Asian artists from major Grammy races.

YouTube TV is strengthening its sports offerings through new agreements with ESPN and NBCUniversal. ESPN’s direct-to-consumer service is now being integrated into YouTube TV following last year’s carriage agreement, while YouTube Premium subscribers will receive Peacock at no additional cost, including access to NBC’s NFL and NBA coverage. The deals further position YouTube TV to capitalize on the continued shift from traditional cable to streaming.

Major record labels are pushing global music charts to limit AI-generated songs, proposing rules that would only allow AI-assisted tracks if they are primarily human-made, legally created, and free from streaming manipulation concerns. The coalition, including Universal Music Group, Sony Music, and Warner Music Group, says the guidelines aim to protect artists as AI music continues to grow. The move follows broader industry efforts to label AI content and establish licensing standards.

The San Jose Sharks have locked in their franchise centerpiece, signing 20-year-old star Macklin Celebrini to a five-year, $94 million extension. The deal, which begins in 2027-28, carries an $18.8 million annual value and makes Celebrini the NHL’s highest-paid player. The Yankees, Knicks, and five other New York-area teams are changing streaming homes, moving their direct-to-consumer distribution from the Gotham Sports App to DAZN. The move ends Gotham Sports App’s brief run after launching in 2024 as a joint streaming venture between YES Network and MSG Networks. In other media news, SiriusXM is launching Sports Pass, a $5-per-month audio subscription bundling its sports channels, local radio partners, and live coverage across major leagues.

DoorDash is expanding into autonomous delivery with the launch of DoorDash Air, an in-house drone program approved by the FAA for commercial operations in the U.S. Developed by DoorDash Labs, the initiative aims to strengthen the company’s logistics network and reduce reliance on traditional couriers. DoorDash joins a growing group of companies exploring drone delivery, including Amazon’s Prime Air, Alphabet’s Wing, and Zipline, while continuing partnerships with existing drone providers.

Crunchyroll and Starz are teaming up on a new streaming bundle, marking Crunchyroll’s first traditional subscription package. Available through Prime Video, the bundle will combine both services for $16.99 per month, offering a mix of anime and premium TV programming at a discounted rate. The deal expands Crunchyroll’s reach in the U.S. while giving Starz another distribution partner as streaming platforms increasingly lean into bundled offerings.
