Hollywood heavyweights Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are the new co-owners of the Australia SailGP team, the league announced Thursday. The multi-year agreement will mark the first time the Australian SailGP team has had a title sponsor after rebranding to the BONDS Flying Roos team. Australia has won three SailGP championships in the last four seasons. This is the latest sports investment for Reynolds, who is also co-owner of soccer clubs Wrexham AFC and La Equidad as well as the Alpine team in Formula 1.

When Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton steps onto the court for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, he’ll be wearing the Hali 1, his debut signature sneaker with Puma. Arriving in the Hibiscus colorway, the shoe was designed by Salehe Bembury, the famous designer who has been working with Puma Hoops since July 2024. While the shoe won’t be available until September, Puma also dropped an “Overrate That” shirt and Haliburton’s PE All-Pro NITRO in pinstripes and gold rush colorways as part of his merch capsule.

FIFA confirmed Thursday that French Montana and Swae Lee will headline the opening ceremony of the FIFA Club World Cup. The duo will be joined by rising stars Vikina and Richaelio, whose performance will be curated by Grammy-winning producer Emilio Estefan Jr. The ceremony begins roughly 45 minutes before Inter Miami CF and Al Ahly FC are set to kick off the opening match of the tournament at 8 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

A follow-up to One of Them Days is coming, with the film’s stars Keke Palmer and SZA expected to reprise their roles. With an impressive 94% rating from critics and 90% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, the film produced by Issa Rae made $11.8 million in its debut weekend in January and $50 million overall at the domestic box office.

NBA team sponsorship revenue increased by 8% to $1.62 billion this season, according to a SponsorUnited report, led largely by jersey patch partnerships. Additionally, 450 unique companies signed first-time deals with teams, developing bigger and more strategic partnerships across the league. The $1.62 billion mark falls just short of the NFL, which brought in roughly $2.5 billion in team sponsorship revenue.

Timbaland is taking artificial intelligence in music to a new level with the launch of his new AI entertainment company, Stage Zero. The idea is to take human input and combine it with AI to create a new genre of music. Timbaland also revealed the company’s first AI-generated artist, A-pop (artificial pop) singer TaTa, whose debut single is expected to drop soon.

At long last, it appears that Aaron Rodgers has found a new home. Numerous reports on Thursday indicated that the four-time NFL MVP has agreed to a one-year deal to play for Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Where Rodgers would end up has been a topic of conversation in NFL circles since free agency opened up over 80 days ago. The 41-year-old quarterback, who played most of his career with the Green Bay Packers before spending the last two seasons with the New York Jets, is expected to attend mini-camp next week.

Olympic medalist Jordan Chiles has been named a global ambassador for Hero Cosmetics, known for its Mighty Patch product that quickly eliminates pimples. According to the WWD exclusive, Chiles, who has been open about her struggles with acne for years, will make in-person engagements, appear in numerous brand campaigns, and post sponsored content on social media.

Viola Davis is again partnering with Amazon MGM Studios for an upcoming conspiracy thriller titled Ally Clark. Davis, who boasts EGOT status, is coming off starring in Amazon’s G20 film, which reached the top spot on Nielsen’s movie chart during its debut week with 516 million minutes streamed after dropping in April.

Veteran celebrity stylist June Ambrose, who credits Missy Elliot, Jay-Z, and Mary J. Blige as clients, has been named global ambassador and creative director of Naturalizer. The former creative director of Puma Hoops from 2021-2023, Ambrose says she’s looking to lead the “next generation of how we see sport, fashion, and lifestyle,” confirming that her inaugural footwear line under the new Naturalizer Sport is arriving in spring 2026.
