Luka Dončić has joined a new ownership group led by former Mavericks executive Donnie Nelson to acquire Italian club Vanoli Cremona, with plans to relocate the team to Rome ahead of the 2026–27 season. The group is also preparing a bid to position the franchise as Rome’s entry into the proposed NBA Europe league, expected to launch as soon as 2027. Dončić said he has “dreamed about owning a team in Europe for a long time” and that he believes “we can do something special for basketball in Italy and Europe.”

Ryan Reynolds is bringing the sports-doc playbook from Wrexham to the water. Alongside Hugh Jackman, Disney+ has greenlit a new series following the duo’s Australian SailGP team, the Bonds Flying Roos, through a high-speed global racing season. Produced by Reynolds’ Maximum Effort with Welcome to Wrexham executive producer Rob Mac, the series will stream internationally on Disney+ and on Hulu/Disney+ in the U.S.

HBO has released the full trailer for Season 3 of House of the Dragon ahead of its June 21 premiere, teasing an all-out war across Westeros as the Targaryen civil war escalates. MLB and the Players Association are headed toward a potential labor fight after exchanging dramatically different opening proposals for the league’s next CBA. Owners proposed MLB’s first-ever salary cap system, including a $245.3 million hard cap and $171.2 million floor, while players pushed for higher minimum salaries, bigger bonuses for young stars, and penalties for teams that refuse to spend. With the current agreement expiring in December 2026, the growing divide has already raised concerns about the 2027 season.

Paramount has won the rights to Florence Pugh’s upcoming fantasy drama The Midnight Library following a heated bidding war with Sony and Focus Features. Directed by Garth Davis and based on Matt Haig’s bestselling novel, the reported $70 million project is expected to begin filming next year, with Paramount securing North American and multiple international distribution rights.

The Miami Marlins sold roughly 15% of the franchise this spring at a valuation between $1.4 billion and $1.55 billion, with proceeds reportedly used to help reduce debt. Dell shares surged more than 30% after the company posted its fastest revenue growth since returning to the public market in 2018, fueled by explosive demand for AI servers powered by Nvidia chips. AI server revenue jumped 757% year over year to $16.1 billion, helping Dell crush Wall Street expectations and deliver what analysts called one of the strongest hardware quarters in years. This comes after reports that Dell secured a $9.7 billion Pentagon software agreement in partnership with Microsoft to supply Microsoft 365, cloud services, and enterprise licensing to the U.S. military.

Mitchell & Ness is doubling down on its Philadelphia roots with a new 16,400-square-foot flagship store in Center City. Nationwide Mutual Insurance is set to acquire a 37% stake in MLS club the Columbus Crew at a reported $900 million valuation, further deepening the insurer’s ties to the franchise and the city. The Haslam family will remain controlling owners after the deal closes, pending league approval. Since opening a new downtown stadium in 2021, the Crew have consistently sold out matches while winning two MLS Cups under current ownership.

Kalshi is expanding beyond prediction markets, planning to launch crypto perpetual futures, giving U.S. traders a regulated alternative to the offshore platforms that currently dominate the space. Perpetual futures, or “perps,” allow traders to speculate on or hedge crypto prices without expiration dates and have grown into a market with annual trading volume topping $90 trillion. The products are still awaiting regulatory approval.
