Paramountโ€™s $110 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery has been approved by shareholders, clearing a key hurdle toward closing the deal, pending remaining regulatory review. Investors, however, rejected CEO David Zaslavโ€™s compensation package, which proxy advisors called excessive. The deal would merge major studios and streaming platforms, combining HBO Max and Paramount+ and expanding a dominant linear TV portfolio.

NFL rookie deals are rising again, with signing bonuses up 18.5% in the 2026 draft class. Widely expected to go to the Raiders with the No. 1 pick, Fernando Mendoza is projected to land a four-year, $57.3 million deal with a $38.1 million bonus. Meanwhile, the 32 first-round picks are expected to total over $900 million in contracts.

Patricof Co and L Catterton have launched the CHAMP Fund, targeting $500 million to pair consumer brand investments with athlete capital. More than 250 athletes, including Tyrese Haliburton, Joe Burrow, Dak Prescott, Jaโ€™Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, Mike Trout, Cade Cunningham, Cooper Flagg, Livvy Dunne, Cameron Brink, and Azzi Fudd, will invest alongside the fund, with over 10% already committed.

Amazon Prime Video is expanding its WNBA coverage for the leagueโ€™s 30th season with a deepened on-air lineup. Miami Vice โ€™85 is the official new title of Universalโ€™s reboot, with Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler set to star and Joseph Kosinski directing. Shot for IMAX, the film reimagines the iconic 1980s Miami crime world and is scheduled for release Aug. 6, 2027. Dan Gilroy is writing the script, with Dylan Clark producing. Netflix announced a $25 billion stock buyback program as it looks to support its share price, which is down more than 16% over the past six months. The move comes amid investor concerns over softer guidance and follows a pause during its failed bid for Warner Bros. Discovery. Netflix also retains $6.8 billion from a prior repurchase program, signaling confidence that its stock is undervalued despite recent volatility.

Comcast reported that Peacock lost $432 million in Q1 even as subscribers rose to 46 million, boosted by NBA rights and the Winter Olympics. Revenue climbed to $2 billion, but losses widened year over year. Overall, Comcast’s results were lifted by $2.2 billion from the Olympics and the Super Bowl, though net income fell 36% amid ongoing declines in cable subscribers and pressure on broadband.

Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd star in a new trailer for Power Ballad, a music-driven drama from writer-director John Carney. The story follows a wedding singer (Rudd) whose song is turned into a breakout hit by a rising pop star (Jonas) without credit, sparking a clash over fame and ownership. The film, also featuring Jack Reynor, premiered to strong buzz at SXSW and opens in theaters on May 29.

LVMH is bringing back its global open-doors event, Les Journรฉes Particuliรจres, for the first time in four years. Set for Oct. 16โ€“18, the program invites the public inside flagship ateliers and workshops across multiple countries, spotlighting craftsmanship behind brands like Dior and Tiffany. Last held in 2022, the event drew 200,000 visitors and aims to showcase heritage skills while recruiting the next generation of artisans.
