Kendrick Lamar and SZA treated fans Friday to the official music video for “Luther,” the chart-topping collaborative single from the former’s 2024 surprise album GNX. Directed by Karena Evans, it ends with the original version of Cheryl Lynn and Luther Vandross’s “If This World Were Mine” that was sampled for the track.

The first-ever WNBA Rivals Week is coming this season, and who better to kick things off than a showdown between two young superstars? Scheduled for Aug. 9-17, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever will kick things off by hosting Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky that Saturday night, followed by the W’s newest team, the Golden State Valkyries, welcoming their in-state rivals, the Los Angeles Sparks. Also taking place during Rivals Week include a couple of WNBA Finals rematches for the defending champion New York Liberty, taking on both the Minnesota Lynx and the Las Vegas Aces days apart.

It’s only been in theaters for one week, but A Minecraft Movie is already celebrating a major milestone, surpassing $200 million at the box office after picking up another $7.1 million in Thursday previews. The mark makes Minecraft the first film to cross the threshold in 2025. As it heads into its second weekend, the film is expected to remain on top with an estimated $65 million in box office sales.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are reportedly nearing a contract extension to lengthen his time in South Beach. Should an agreement be reached, the new deal will see the decorated footballer lead Inter Miami into its new home at Miami Freedom Park next season. According to The Athletic, his current deal was set to expire at the end of 2025. Since arriving in 2023, the World Cup champion has netted 42 goals in 48 appearances with 21 assists.

After years of intense campaigning, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the addition of stunt design to Oscar categories, which will first be presented at the 100th Academy Awards for films released in 2027. Only two stunt performers have been recognized with Oscar statuettes, both honorary trophies: Yakima Canutt (1966) and Hal Needham (2012).

Ally Financial further solidified its commitment to women’s sports by announcing a new deal with the WNBA as the league’s official bank and a Changemaker partner. Additionally, Ally has added UConn champion point guard Paige Bueckers to its athlete roster in a personal endorsement deal. Joining Google, Nike, AT&T, Deloitte, and CarMax as a Changemaker partner, Ally is “deeply invested in driving positive change for the WNBA, women’s sports, and women in society.”

Warner Bros. Discovery chairman John Malone is stepping down from the board and moving into a new role as chair emeritus, the media firm confirmed in a Friday announcement. In his new position, WBD says Malone, also a chairman of Liberty Media, will attend board meetings “in an advisory capacity, but will not vote on board matters.” The move comes after the company had a successful year in streaming, recording nearly 117 million subscribers worldwide.

According to CNBC’s newly released list of the 2025 MLB team valuations, the New York Yankees remain the league’s most valuable club at $8 billion. In second are the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers ($5.8 billion) followed by the Boston Red Sox in third ($4.7 billion). The Chicago Cubs ($4.5 billion) and the San Francisco Giants ($3.8 billion) round out the top five, respectively. The average MLB team is worth $2.62 billion.

Ashley Park of Emily in Paris fame is the newest Dior ambassador for fashion and beauty, with WWD noting the Tony- and Grammy-winning actress was seen wearing the French luxe label on past red carpets. She also attended Dior’s 2025 spring ready-to-wear show. Park joins Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Jenna Ortega as Dior ambassadors.

Two-time WNBA champion and Under Armour athlete Kelsey Plum announced the official roster for the 2025 Dawg Class, which includes UConn‘s KK Arnold and Azzi Fudd, Kentucky‘s Georgia Amoore, NC State‘s Zoe Brooks, and South Carolina‘s Tessa Johnson. The special group of elite college athletes are invited to join Plum for training camp in Phoenix from April 18-20.
