Netflixย andย Sony Pictures Entertainmentย have struck an industry-first worldwide Pay-1 licensing deal valued at more than $7 billion, significantly expanding their previous 2021 agreement. Theย new deal consolidates international Pay-1 rights (the agreement streamers make with studios for films after their theatrical and home entertainment windows) under Netflix, eliminating territory-by-territory licensing and driving a reported 40% increase in Sonyโ€™s rate card, largely fueled by overseas markets. The global rollout will begin later this year as rights become available, with full worldwide access on Netflix by early 2029 through 2032. Early titles under the agreement include The Nightingale,ย Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,ย The Legend of Zelda, and Sam Mendesโ€™ upcoming Beatles films.

Harry Styles confirmed on Thursday his fourth album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, is dropping on March 6. The 12-track project is executive produced by longtime collaborator Kid Harpoon, who recently worked with David Byrne. Styles revealed the news and album cover on Instagram, showing him in a nighttime wooded setting beneath a floating disco ball. The announcement follows days of fan speculation sparked by a mysterious website linked to Styles and Sony Music, now featuring a cryptic clock referencing the albumโ€™s themes.

TMRW Sports has announced Trybe Ventures as the lead capital partner in WTGL, a new team-based golf platform launching with the LPGA and set to debut in winter 2026-27. Co-founded by Alex Morgan, Trybe Ventures has assembled an investor group that includes business leaders Linnea Roberts, Jenny Just, Susan Lyne, Jen Mackesy, Ellie Rubenstein, and soccer icons Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach. WTGL will feature teams of LPGA stars competing in fast-paced, tech-driven match play from the custom-built SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.ย 

Spotify is raising the price of its Premium subscription from $11.99 to $12.99 per month in the U.S., Estonia, and Latvia, starting with February billing. Spotify attributes the hikes to maintaining a โ€œgreat experience.โ€ This marks its second U.S. price increase in less than a year, following an increase to $11.99 in June. Previously, the service rose from $9.99 to $10.99 in July 2023.

Cliff โ€œMethod Manโ€ Smith has joined the cast of Sunny, a dark thriller from director Eva Sรธrhaug, starring alongside Angelina Jolie and Charlie Plummer. Riffing on classic mafia films, the story follows a female gangster racing against time to protect herself and her sons from an abusive drug kingpin. Smith will play Ruskin, a black-market art dealer, with character details otherwise under wraps. The actor recently earned four consecutive NAACP Image Awards for Power Book II: Ghost and appears in Poker Face Season 2 and Lionsgateโ€™s Shadow Force.

The NFL has announced the fifth annual Origins: An NFL Collection, a limited-edition Super Bowl capsule designed by San Francisco Bay Area brands ahead of Super Bowl LX. This yearโ€™s collaborators โ€” Aaron De La Cruz, BLVCK SCVLE, and Nostalgia โ€” reinterpret the Super Bowl through art and design rooted in San Francisco culture. The collection will debut at a free, one-day-only pop-up at NFL Culture Club at The Pearl in San Francisco on Feb. 5. Select styles will be available online at NFL Shop and the brandsโ€™ websites starting Feb. 6.

Former NBA MVP Derrick Rose has launched Roseโ€™s Flower Shop, a family-inspired floral brand centered on sharing beauty and appreciation. The company officially opens on Thursday and operates on a weekly drop model, with new rose bouquets released every Sunday and delivered via FedEx. Bouquets arrive in premium packaging and typically last 7-12 days. Roseโ€™s will also debut with a Chicago-only pop-up on Sunday, where Rose will personally hand out 300 pre-ordered bouquets.

Matthew McConaughey is using trademark law to combat unauthorized AI-generated uses of his likeness and voice, securing approval for eight trademarks featuring his image and audio. The filings include short video clips and audio of his iconic line โ€œAlright, alright, alright,โ€ aimed at preventing AI apps from simulating him without consent. The move reflects growing concerns among performers about AI misuse. Separately, McConaughey recently partnered with ElevenLabs, where he is also an investor, to release a Spanish-language version of his Lyrics of Livinโ€™ newsletter.

HBOโ€™s upcoming Harry Potter TV series will feature an original score composed by Hans Zimmer in collaboration with Bleeding Fingers Music, the composer collective he co-founded. Zimmer will work alongside Bleeding Fingers composers Kara Talve and Anลพe Rozman on the music for the series, which is set to debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2027. Bleeding Fingers specializes in original scores for film and television, expanding Zimmerโ€™s creative reach across projects. The acclaimed composerโ€™s extensive credits include Inception, The Lion King, Dune, and major television projects such as Planet Earth II.
