Tom Brady’s Autograph NFT Platform Completes 9-figure Series B Round

Last Updated: July 5, 2023
Co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins, the $170 million fundraise ensures more momentum for the growing Web3 community.

Everything Tom Brady touches turns to paydirt, touchdowns, and/or trophies in some combination. That’s remained true over the relatively brief existence of Autograph, the NFT collectibles platform the Buccaneers quarterback co-founded.

Following its July 2021 launch, Autograph quickly became a go-to community for NFT moments featuring elite-level athletes across the world of sports, from Simone Biles to Tiger Woods to Derek Jeter to Tony Hawk to Naomi Osaka — as well as TB12 himself — just about all of which had retail runs that sold out in short order.

And on Thursday, Autograph announced some successful numbers of a different variety: $170 million in Series B funding co-led by a16z and Kleiner Perkins.

Autograph’s Series A financing round in July 2021 was co-led by 01A and Velvet Sea Ventures.

“We’re in the midst of an exciting moment in the evolution of the next generation of the internet. The benefits of being an early adopter of web3 products and services as a creator or a consumer are real but there have historically been significant barriers to entry for most people,” said Autograph board member Katie Haun. “Autograph has assembled a world class team that understands how to build trusted, delightful product experiences that will accelerate the mainstreaming of crypto.”

AddedIlya Fushman, Partner at Kleiner Perkins:

“The team at Autograph is committed to innovation, and partnering with new exciting entities to create collectibles and experiences that allow fans to grow closer to icons across verticals. I’m excited to join the board of directors and partner with this team at the forefront of the NFT space with a long-term vision that will broaden access to the decentralized technology ecosystem for creators and consumers.”

On Sunday, Brady’s Tampa Bay Bucs face the Rams for a spot in the NFC Championship. But whether or not one more Super Bowl trip is in the cards for TB12 this season, his ongoing adventures in the world of Web3 have only just begun.
