Snoop Dogg Gets in the Game With FaZe Clan

The legendary West Coast rapper and serial entrepreneur joins the esports giant as both a member of its board of directors and a content creator.

Snoop Dogg was wearing a FaZe Clan chain during the Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show. If you peeped, you peeped. This was Snoop’s clever way of foreshadowing what was soon to come.

Monday, that subtle hint became fully realized with the confirmation that the rapper and entrepreneur officially joined the esports organization’s Board of Directors.

With the evergreen power of Snoop, FaZe Clan will continue dominating the worlds of esports, gaming, and youth culture.

Snoop joins FaZe’s impressive roster of content creators and talent — including LeBron James Jr., Lil Yachty, and Offset — as the brand is fresh off its SPAC merger with B. Riley Principal 150 Merger Corp. that made it the world’s first publicly traded esports organization.

FaZe fields competitive esports teams via the Call of Duty League’s Atlanta FaZe as well as outfits in CS:GO, Rocket League, Valorant, Fortnite, FIFA, PUBG, and Rainbow Six.

Snoop himself is no stranger to the world of competitive gaming, as he’s streamed several games on Twitch. He has also appeared in multiple video games, such as Def Jam: Fight For NY and True Crime: Streets of LA. More recently, he was a multiplayer announcer in a DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts and even took on Dr Disrespect in Madden NFL 21.

FaZe Clan and Snoop haven’t been strangers prior to this deal, however. In February, FaZe and the NFL partnered on a charity flag football game in which  $25,000 was donated to Snoop Dogg’s Youth Football League.

Now, as a member of the organization’s Board of Directors, Snoop will work closely with his son, Cordell Broadus, on community outreach programs that center on supporting youth activities.

“It only makes sense to partner with FaZe Clan as both a team member and on the Board of Directors,” Snoop said in an official press release. “The youth identifies with their brand, and that’s something my son Cordell knew, which is why he brought us together.”

As FaZe Clan Chief Strategy Officer Kai Henry added:

“As the original internet kid and first-generation gamer, Snoop more than anyone has always understood the cultural connection between music, lifestyle, and gaming. Today, Snoop is a leading voice in the emerging Web3 community and we have tremendous plans to create together in the metaverse, driving new engagement opportunities for both of our fanbases.”

Snoop Dogg adds yet another business venture and creative arm to his list of entrepreneurial highlights that reads as long as a CVS receipt. This news comes on the heels of his full-circle acquisition of Death Row Records.

Indeed, nostalgia is nice. But let the real games begin.
