The Deion Sanders Era Officially Begins in Colorado
Neon Deion is headed to the Rocky high. The University of Colorado-Boulder formally introduced Deion Sanders as its new head coach on Sunday, less than 24 hours after winning the SWAC championship. In his first moments, he is already making his presence felt. Sanders will be joined by his son Shedeur, who will take over the quarterback position. And after a disappointing 1-11 season, he’s advising his whole team to enter the transfer portal, saying “if more of you jump in, the more room you make.”
Bad Bunny Tallies 18B Spotify Streams, Doubling Previous Year
Bad Bunny is back on the top of the Spotify charts for the third consecutive year. Although he is no stranger to breaking records, now he’s out here shattering his own. The Puerto Rican artist tallied 18 billion streams on Spotify, doubling his total from 2021. For comparison, Post Malone took the top honor in 2019 with 6.5 billion and Drake in 2018 with 8.2 billion.
USMNT Brings in 13M Viewers for World Cup Exit
The United States Men’s National Team is out in Qatar. The team suffered a 3-1 loss to Netherlands on Saturday. The early morning start in the States also curbed the viewership numbers, as the team brought in 13 million to FOX. The top markets tuning in included Cincinnati, St. Louis, Washington, D.C., and Kansas City. Many casual fans have their sights set on 2026, at which point the pool will expand and so, too, is the number of games. FIFA is currently considering how to accommodate the jump from 32 to 48 games, and some believe it will add 40 games to the international competition.
Nike, Gucci Top Gen-Z Favorite Brands List
The next generation of tastemakers has spoken. Nike and Gucci sit atop the Gen-Z list of favorite brands collected by Business of Fashion. The fashion website credits Gucci’s engagement with youth-centered brands and figures including Roblox and Harry Styles as the driver of its success. Adidas, H&M, and Zara closed out the top five.
