Braves Clinch Fourth Straight NL East Title

The Atlanta Braves clinched their fourth straight division title Thursday night after completing a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies with a 5-3 victory. The win marks Atlanta’s 21st division title since moving from Milwaukee in 1966.

NFL Announces Star-studded Lineup for Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show 

The NFL on Wednesday gave football fans a sneak peek at what to expect at this year’s Pepsi Halftime Show for Super Bowl LVI. The all-star lineup expected to take the stage at Sofi Stadium includes LA’s own Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar,  Mary J. Blige, and Eminem.

NWSL Players Rally in Wake of Allegations Against Former NC Courage Coach

Former North Carolina Courage coach Paul Riley has been fired on the grounds of “serious allegations of misconduct” after accusations of over a decade of verbal and sexual violence. Two players, Sinead Farrelly and Mana Shim came forth in the complaint, while several others remain anonymous. Several athletes, including USWNT stars Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, issued public statements criticizing the NWSL’s complicit nature in the perpetuation of Riley’s behaviors.  

“The Eli Manning Show” Debuts on New York Giants’ YouTube Channel

Eli Manning has added another notable item to his résumé: talk show host. On the heels of his successful role on ESPN2’s alternative Monday Night Football Manningcast, the two-time Super Bowl champ will speak with athletes, influencers, and celebrity fans of the G-Men throughout the eight-part series hosted on the team’s YouTube.

NBA Eclipses 95% COVID Vaccination Threshold

With only weeks to go until the start of the season, the NBA has reached a 95% vaccination rate among its players, ESPN reported on Thursday. The ​​95% vaccination rate, which is an improvement of roughly 5% from reports earlier in the week, suggests that on average, one player per team is still unvaccinated.

Division Street Launches to Help Oregon Athletes Take Flight in the NIL Era

Oregon athletics has always been at the forefront of the brand marketing conversation in college sports, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change in the NCAA’s name, image, and likeness era. University alumni, including Sabrina Ionescu, teamed up to launch Division Street, Inc., a venture aimed to help Oregon student-athletes create and monetize their personal brands. Division Street will work across all sports and be available to each of the more than 500 Oregon student-athletes.

Mike Dunleavy Jr. Takes Over as Warriors’ VP of Basketball Operations

The 15-year NBA veteran, drafted third overall by the Warriors in 2003, was promoted to VP of Basketball Operations on Thursday. Dunleavy Jr. joined the team in 2008 as a scout and has spent the last two years as the Assistant GM. 

Skipper Pursuing Katie Nolan and Michelle Beadle to Join Startup

Former ESPN boss John Skipper has his sights set on Katie Nolan and Michelle Beadle for his sports media startup, Front Office Sports reported Thursday. Skipper, CEO of Meadowlark Media, said both Nolan and Beadle, both former ESPN personalities, would have editorial freedom.

Big Hurt-backed Group Buys Field of Dreams Movie Site

MLB Hall of Famer Frank Thomas is among a group of investors who have purchased the controlling interests in the Field of Dreams movie site in Iowa. The ownership group, which includes real estate developer Rick Heidner, has named Thomas as the CEO and former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dan Evans as chief operating officer.
