Quavo Gets in the Thanksgiving Spirit with New Cookbook

Quavo and Urban Recipe have teamed up for a free Huncho Farms Cookbook, released as part of the rapper’s pre-Thanksgiving celebration from his Quavo Cares non-profit. The digital cookbook features Quavo’s family recipes for turkey and chicken, apple crisps, sauces, and more. The “Greatness” artist says the cookbook was developed to inspire families “to make nutritious meals together to enjoy with laughter and love.” The book’s release also ties into Quavo’s annual turkey giveaway, which took place in Atlanta earlier this week. During the event, 300 families received turkeys, groceries, and other fresh produce ahead of Thanksgiving, in addition to hygiene products and a hard copy of the cookbook.

Report Shows TikTok Drives Music Discovery

It’s not secret that TikTok drives songs into the cultural consciousness, but now the company has the data to prove it. TikTok dropped the results of a new study, and the social media platform applauded its ability to drive music discovery and streaming activity. In the United States, TikTok users are twice as likely to discover music on short-form video (SFV) platforms than the average user of other social media sites. TikTok users in the U.S. also spend 49% more on music purchases compared to the average listener. The report showed that nearly half (46%) of TikTok’s US users listen to music that is not in English, which is 27% more likely than music listeners overall. This audience is also 33% more likely to consider having access to global music as ‘extremely important.’

Jason and Travis Kelce Christmas Single Soars to No. 1 on iTunes

Travis Kelce and older bro Jason are kicking off the holiday season with something to celebrate. The NFL pros recently made it to the top of the iTunes chart with their Christmas song, “Fairytale of Philadelphia,” thanks to the help of Taylor Swift’s dedicated fan base. “We owe a big thanks to one group in particular, besides the 92 percenters,” Jason said on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, referring to their own fanbase. “And that’s the Swifties.” Travis echoed the sentiment, adding, “One thousand percent.” The track features lyrics rewritten by the famous athletes and it tells the “tale of two brothers whose love for each other withstands the test of time.”

Spotify Unveils New System For Streaming Royalties

Spotify has disclosed its new model for paying streamers. Starting in early 2024, the music streaming giant confirmed that it would no longer be compensating artists for songs that had fewer than 1,000 streams. In the past, 1,000 streams generated just about 3 cents per month. In justifying this decision, Spotify says the policy will “eliminate one strategy used to attempt to game the system or hide artificial streaming, as uploaders will no longer be able to generate pennies from an extremely high volume of tracks.” Spotify also revealed payouts to the music industry total “over $40 billion and counting” to date.
