Nominees for the Songwriters Hall of Fame‘s 2025 class were revealed Tuesday, and among those named include Eminem, Janet Jackson, George Clinton, Sheryl Crow, the Doobie Brothers, N.W.A., and Alanis Morissette. The list includes 26 in total, and all but five contenders are individuals. Just six will be selected to enter the SHOF – three in the performing songwriters category and three more among the non-performing songwriters. Eligible voters have until Dec. 12 to vote, while honorees will be recognized at the SHOF’s 2025 Induction & Awards Gala next June in New York City.

During a press stop promoting his current project, Gladiator II, Denzel Washington told The Today Show Australia that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is developing a character just for him in the series’ third installment. While the role is unspecified, the Oscar winner added it will be one of his last performances before retiring from acting. “At this point in my career, I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make, probably not that many. I want to do things that I haven’t done,” the 69-year-old explained. Gladiator II opens in theaters on Friday.

FC Barcelona and kit sponsor Nike have agreed to a new multi-year deal, the club confirmed via Instagram. Barça didn’t reveal financial details, but reports state that the contract is worth $1.82 billion (€1.7 billion) over 14 years, making it the highest sponsorship in sports. Nike has been FC Barcelona’s kit sponsor since 1998, and their previous agreement, which had been valued at $112 million per year, was set to expire in June 2028.

The forthcoming film about disgraced FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has found its writer. First reported by Variety, Lena Dunham is developing the screenplay for Apple and A24. The script is an adaptation of Michael Lewis’s 2023 bestseller Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon. No casting announcements have been made, but this is not the first book by Lewis to get the Hollywood treatment. Other nonfiction works of his to become feature flicks include The Blind Side, Moneyball, and The Big Short.

Apple and The Weeknd teased an “immersive music experience” on Monday that will be available to watch on the Vision Pro headset this Thursday. The trailer revealed some key details, like the activation featuring the singer’s unreleased single “Open Hearts,” which The Weeknd previewed during a concert in Australia last month. For those without a Vision Pro, the Apple Store will also show the production via demo beginning Friday.

Live Nation shared its third-quarter results Monday, beating Wall Street expectations with a revenue of $7.7 billion and an operating income of $640 million thanks to a strong summer concert season. The entertainment company also reported 144 million tickets sold for 2024 Live Nation concerts through October, a 3% increase from last year. The company also said it has sold over 20 million tickets for shows already in 2025, a sign Live Nation could be headed toward even more growth next year.

Newly retired tennis pro Andy Murray is taking his life story on tour, sharing highlights of his decades-long career in front of a live audience. Called Andy Murray | Centre Stage, Murray and BBC sports broadcaster Andrew Cotter will tour the United Kingdom, making stops in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London from June 18 to June 29, with the end date coinciding with the start of Wimbledon 2025 the next day. Additionally, the tour ends in the New Wimbledon Theatre, located near Wimbledon’s iconic courts, where Murray won two championships. Tickets for the live show go on sale Thursday.

League One Volleyball (LOVB) announced a partnership with fashion retailer Revolve on Tuesday. As the official online fashion retail partner for LOVB, Revolve will spotlight athletes as stylish figures and expand its reach into the rapidly growing women’s sports market. The inaugural campaign features five of LOVB’s pro athletes: Team USA Olympic medalists Kelsey Robinson Cook, Chiaka Ogbogu, Jordyn Poulter, Micha Hancock, and Jordan Thompson. Per the release, these players “embody the core attributes of Revole’s Gen Z audience – confident, personable, fashionable, fun, and engaging leaders.” The first LOVB season is set to begin on Jan. 8, 2025.
