Jaylen Brown Launches Performance Brand 741
After teasing its arrival for months, Jaylen Brown officially unveiled his performance brand 741 on Wednesday. The Boston Celtics star says he turned down over $50 million in potential endorsement deals to maintain creative control with his own company. “741 is a next-generation performance brand with a clear mission: to empower athletes and provide consumers with quality, stylish designs that elevate performance on and off the field,” the official website reads. The company’s inaugural product is the Rover “Black Moon” sneaker, available for pre-order with an Oct. 22 drop date.
Angel City FC Tops 2024 NWSL Team Valuations; Bay FC Cracks Top 5
The increased investment in women’s sports continues to prove successful. Sportico dropped its 2024 NWSL team valuations list on Wednesday, and for the second year in a row, Angel City FC claims the top spot with a $250 million valuation. The biggest riser value-wise is the Kansas City Current ($182 million, ranking second after the team’s valuation increased 147% from 2023, while the San Diego Wave ($132 million) sits at No. 3. Rounding out the top five are Bay FC ($121 million) in its inaugural season and the Washington Spirit ($95 million) in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Dr. Dre, Dua Lipa & More to Appear at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Ahead of next month’s Induction Ceremony, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation confirmed the presenters and performers that will help celebrate the honorees. Those taking the stage include Dr. Dre, Dua Lipa, Busta Rhymes, Chuck D, Ella Mai, Method Man, Slash, The Roots, and many other hitmakers. Of the inductees, Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, and Dionne Warwick will also make appearances. The Induction Ceremony will stream live from Cleveland on Disney+ on Oct. 19.
Giants, Jets Among NFL Teams Getting Kith Makeover in Newest Collab
In collaboration with the NFL, Kith teased a limited edition capsule of apparel fit for a game-day ensemble over the weekend. Starting with the New York Giants, the campaign featured beloved Giants wideout David Tyree sporting a leather varsity jacket, retro pullover, crewneck sweater, and more. Ben Stiller Teams Up with Andy Roddick for Upcoming Pickleball Comedy
Ben Stiller is producing and appearing in a pickleball comedy called The Dink, Variety reported Wednesday. New Girl alum Jake Johnson will star in the movie as a “washed-up tennis pro who, to save a club in crisis and win his father’s respect, does the one thing he swore he’d never do: play pickleball.” Mary Steenburgen and Ed Harris are also a part of the cast, while Stiller and retired tennis pro Andy Roddick have supporting roles. Production is scheduled to start in LA in November.

Detroit Pistons, StockX Agree to Jersey Sponsor Deal
The Detroit Pistons and StockX announced a multi-year partnership Wednesday that makes the sneaker resell platform the Pistons’ new jersey patch sponsor. Beginning with the 2024-25 season, the StockX logo will appear on the left strap on the front of team uniforms. Pistons Vice Chairman Arn Tellem said the collab goes beyond the jersey patch placement, also teasing “off-the-court initiatives at the intersection of sports, fashion, and culture that align with our organizations’ shared commitment to drive positive change in the Detroit community and beyond.” Founded in 2015, StockX is also based in Motor City.
‘Nike: Form Follows Motion’ Exhibit Showcases Swoosh Evolution
A new Nike exhibit that guides attendees through the company’s revolutionary advancements across sport, innovation, and culture is now open. Nike: Form Follows Motion will highlight the evolution of The Swoosh, looking at everything from the company’s inception in the 1960s and the design of its iconic logo to iconic products such as Air Max and Flyknit and current research focused on sustainability and material for its products. The display will run from now until May 4 at the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
