Travis Scott Drops His First Cactus Jack x Oakley Collection
For his first product drop as Oakley‘s Chief Visionary Officer, Travis Scott has reworked three signature styles (the Plantaris, Straight Jacket 99, and Eye Jacket Redux) in Cactus Jack brown, fitted with Prizm Snow Black lenses. The Cactus Jack x Oakley collection launched Thursday on Scott’s website and hits Oakley on Friday. Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson stars in a campaign directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, with Oakley telling WWD “there is so much more ahead.”
Coco Gauff Is Joining World Team Tennis as a Player-Owner
Coco Gauff is joining World Team Tennis as both a player and equity owner of the Florida Flamingos when the mixed-gender league relaunches in December. The two-time Grand Slam champion is part of a three-team field that also includes the New York Empire and Toronto North. WTT players will receive league equity alongside base fees and win bonuses, with matches played during the ATP and WTA offseason. Gauff’s Florida team will play its home matches at Amerant Bank Arena.
Meta Unveils Its First New VR Device Since 2024
Meta unveiled its $1,299 VR Glasses, the company’s first new VR device since 2024, as CEO Mark Zuckerberg looks to pair its metaverse push with AI. Arriving in Spring 2027, the glasses weigh about 100 grams and use an external puck for processing and battery power. Eye and hand tracking reduce the need for controllers, while the device delivers higher-resolution visuals in a slimmer, glasses-like design. Meta also introduced the Muse Charm, a handheld AI companion.
Nicolas Cage Stars as John Madden in ‘Madden’ Trailer
Nicolas Cage stars as John Madden in the first trailer for Madden, David O. Russell’s biopic about the NFL icon’s journey from Oakland Raiders coach to broadcaster and video game legend. The film follows Madden’s 1977 Super Bowl-winning Raiders run before charting his reinvention after leaving coaching, including his rise as an NFL analyst and the creation of the blockbuster Madden NFL franchise with EA Sports. The film hits theaters on Nov. 11 and Prime Video on Nov. 18.

Michael B. Jordan Added to CultureCon Lineup With Aaron Pierre, Wale
Michael B. Jordan is joining the 2026 CultureCon lineup, taking the stage Oct. 3-4 in Brooklyn as he prepares for the release of The Thomas Crown Affair, which he directs, produces, and stars in. The Oscar-winning actor joins newly announced speakers Aaron Pierre, Wale, and Tobe Nwigwe, alongside previously announced names including John Legend, Mahershala Ali, Colin Kaepernick, Daniel Kaluuya, and Niecy Nash-Betts. CultureCon Week will run across New York City from Sept. 28-Oct. 2.
Judge Orders White House to Restore CNN, MS NOW, POLITICO Access
A federal judge ordered the White House to restore press access for CNN, MS NOW, and POLITICO, but reporters from all three outlets were initially turned away Thursday morning, with some credentials confiscated. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a 14-day temporary restraining order, finding the outlets were likely denied due process. The organizations requested an emergency hearing over the alleged violation. CNN and MS NOW reporters were later allowed back inside, while POLITICO pursued further legal action.
Phil Knight, Penny Knight Commit $1B to University of Oregon
Nike co-founder Phil Knight and his wife, Penny, are giving $1 billion to the University of Oregon, establishing the Knight College of Engineering. The gift ranks among the largest ever to a public university and marks the couple’s third major contribution to their alma mater in the past decade. The Knights previously donated $500 million in 2016 and another $500 million in 2021 to create and expand the school’s Knight Campus. Knight graduated from Oregon in 1959.

RedBird Capital Takes Majority Stake in Puck at $250M Valuation
RedBird Capital Partners is acquiring a majority stake in Puck at a roughly $250 million valuation, giving the five-year-old media company a new lead investor. The deal is expected to close within a month pending regulatory approval, with existing investors Standard Investments and TPG exiting and RIT Capital retaining a minority stake. Puck CEO Sarah Personette and co-founder Jon Kelly said the transaction will not change the publisher’s editorial independence or business model.
