Kid Cudi to Direct, Score, & Star In Horror Thriller ‘Wrong Number’
Kid Cudi is expanding his filmmaking résumé with Wrong Number, his second directorial feature in a year. The horror thriller, now shooting in Los Angeles, stars Cudi alongside Barbie Ferreira as a self-help author whose romance with a mysterious woman spirals into a nightmare involving a stalker and multiple murders. Cudi wrote and is directing the film, while also composing its score. He’s targeting 2027 for releases of both Wrong Number and his debut, Doe.
Kyle Shanahan Reportedly Gets Multi-Year Extension From 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers reportedly agreed to a multi-year extension with Kyle Shanahan during the offseason, rewarding the longtime coach after another strong run in charge. The deal, which previously went unreported, would keep Shanahan in San Francisco beyond his current contract through 2027. The timing makes the extension an especially fitting follow-up to Friday’s 27-7 season-opening win over the Rams in Australia.

Apple and Hermès are extending their luxury-tech partnership with the new Apple Watch Hermès Series 12 and Hermès Ultra 4. The latest models introduce new bands and watch faces inspired by Hermès’ equestrian heritage, evening wear, and deep-sea exploration. Series 12 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes in Radiant Gold or Silver Titanium, while the 49mm Ultra 4 offers several Hermès designs. Both arrive Sept. 18, with prices starting at $1,400.
DOJ Investigating Clippers Over Alleged Kawhi Salary-Cap Circumvention
The Department of Justice is reportedly investigating the LA Clippers over alleged salary-cap circumvention involving Kawhi Leonard. Nashville’s airport is officially moving toward a name honoring Dolly Parton, after the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority voted 6-0 to begin the renaming process. A final name has not been decided, though Dolly Parton International Airport is among the possibilities under consideration. The proposal has attracted significant public support, with more than 175,000 people signing a petition backing the change. The airport authority said it will need additional approvals and steps before finalizing a new name.

‘Point Break’ Heads to TV With AMC Series
AMC has greenlit a Point Break series set in the same world as the 1991 action classic starring Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. The new series follows an FBI agent who recruits a mysterious former pro surfer to infiltrate a heist crew inspired by the original film’s Ex-Presidents. Dave Kalstein and Christopher C. Rogers will serve as co-showrunners, with production scheduled to begin in early 2027. No casting has been announced.
YouTube Horror Hit ‘The Mandela Catalogue’ Gets 2028 Release
Another YouTube-born horror hit is making the jump to the big screen. The Mandela Catalogue has landed a June 9, 2028, theatrical release from United Artists, Amazon MGM Studios, and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin. Creator Alex Kister will direct from a script he co-wrote with Tyler Clifton. The analog horror franchise, launched in 2021, has generated more than 100 million views and follows shape-shifting creatures invading a fictional Wisconsin county.
