Nneka Ogwumike to Retire From WNBA After 2026 Season
After 15 seasons, Nneka Ogwumike is retiring from the WNBA at the conclusion of the 2026 season. In a new episode of Boardroom Talks with Taylor Rooks, the two-time All-Star reflects on her career, the Los Angeles Sparksโ 2016 championship, leadership, and the decision to walk away while still playing at an elite level. Ogwumike, who is averaging 16.9 points and 8.7 rebounds this season, is leaving the game on her own terms.

Wu-Tangโs $2M Album Gets the Netflix Documentary Treatment
Netflix has acquired The Disciple: A Wu-Tang Fable, a documentary about Wu-Tang affiliate Cilvaringz and the creation of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, the one-of-a-kind album famously sold for $2 million to Martin Shkreli. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Joanna Natasegara and featuring RZA as an executive producer, the film explores music, ownership, and the value of art in the digital age. The Disciple premieres on Netflix Oct. 16.
Tom Hanks in Talks to Star in Theo of Golden for Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. is in negotiations to acquire the film rights to Allen Leviโs breakout bestseller Theo of Golden, with Tom Hanks in talks to star as the title character. The novel follows a mysterious man who buys pencil portraits of townspeople, returning them while uncovering their stories and confronting his own past. Self-published in 2023, the book has since sold more than 3.5 million U.S. copies and been translated into 43 languages.
Anderson .Paak & Cordae Are Joining Forces for a New Album
Anderson .Paak and Cordae are teaming up for Heavy Is the Crown, a collaborative album arriving Oct. 23. The project builds on their yearslong creative partnership, which began with Cordaeโs “RNP” and continued through โTwo Tens” and โSummer Drop.โ Inspired by their friendship and the cult comedy Step Brothers, the album will also feature an expansive physical release, including exclusive vinyl, a cassette, and a CD.
Paramount-Warner Merger Could Cost L.A. $2.78B in Economic Value
Los Angeles County is warning that Paramountโs proposed $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery could put $2.78 billion in economic value at risk. A new county report estimates 4,500 direct job-years could be lost, along with 2,661 indirect and 3,204 induced job-years. The potential fallout includes corporate layoffs, a smaller production slate, and reduced business for companies supporting Hollywoodโs entertainment industry.
Mattel Brings UNO to Twitch With New $50K Championship
Mattel is turning UNO into a competitive streaming event with the launch of the UNO Championship Series, which will air live on Twitch. Brad Pitt has joined Wim Wendersโ upcoming documentary From Inside Out โ The Architecture of Peter Zumthor as an executive producer. The film, 14 years in the making, explores the work of the Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architect, including his recently completed Los Angeles County Museum of Art design. Pitt was a vocal supporter of Zumthorโs controversial LACMA project and helped advocate for it during a pivotal 2019 hearing. The documentary premieres at Venice next month.
