LeBron James was selected by his fellow Team USA peers to represent the country as its male flag bearer for the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Friday. LeBron is the first men’s basketball player to ever carry the flag for the United States, while women’s basketball stars Sue Bird (2020) and Dawn Staley (2004) did so in previous Olympics. Team USA‘s female flag bearer has been selected and is expected to be announced on Tuesday.

Haven’t had a chance to see Travis Scott in concert? You’re in luck, as the rapper is extending his Circus Maximus Tour, he confirmed Monday via Instagram. La Flame will head to South America and Australia this fall, making stops in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Bogota, Colombia, before wrapping the global trek on Halloween in Auckland, New Zealand. For those unable to travel overseas, Scott also announced he’s returning stateside for a one-night-only show at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 9.

TNT has informed the NBA that it intends to match one of the reported offers in the 11-year, $76 billion media rights deal the league reportedly reached last week with ABC/ESPN, NBC/Peacock, and Amazon. While TNT could not clarify which portion of the deal it’s targeting, numerous reports indicate it’s going after Amazon’s streaming package worth $1.8 billion per year. While Warner Bros. Discovery & TNT “look forward to the NBA executing our new contract,” this could head to court if the league declines the network’s right to match. 

Star entertainer Druski is expanding his Coulda Been Records in the form of a comedy and music festival, getting some of the biggest names in the respective spaces, such as Lil Baby and Kai Cenat, to attend. Druski will co-host Coulda Fest on Sept. 7 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta alongside DC Young Fly. Among those expected to be in attendance are Soulja Boy, Waka Flocka Flame, Yung Joc, Young Dro, Roscoe Dash, and more.

A locker used by the late Kobe Bryant has been put up for auction and, according to Sotheby’s, could fetch at least $1.5 million. Bryant used the locker from 2004-2016 during his illustrious career with the Los Angeles Lakers. The artifact was originally set to be destroyed as part of renovations at Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) in 2018, but an employee “had the foresight to keep and store it,” Sotheby’s said. So far, the auction that runs through Aug. 2 has one bid for $700,000.

South by Southwest (SXSW) is headed to London next year and it now officially has dates on the calendar. The 2025 festival will take place from June 2-7 in at least 20 venues in the Shoreditch neighborhood of East London. Roughly 20,000 attendees are expected to participate in SWSW London, featuring programming in tech, music, screen, and general arts. SXSW will also host its stateside festival in Austin, Texas, its home since 1987, from March 17-15, 2025.

The new movie Twisters has spun up a lot of commotion at the box office, raking in nearly $81 million for its opening weekend. The sequel to the 1996 Twister film exceeded expectations, as it was forecasted to finish in the $50 million range in its first few days. Twisters, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, now boasts the third-largest opening weekend of 2024 behind Inside Out 2 ($154 million) and Dune: Part Two ($82 million). 

Actress Cara Delevingne and rapper Little Simz headline Miu Miu‘s newest star-studded campaign to highlight its upcoming AW24 collection. Joining them in the company’s fall push include K-Pop star Minnie, singer/songwriter Charlotte Cardin, model Caitlin Soetendal, and singer Ethel Cain. Miu Miu is an Italian high-fashion women’s clothing and accessory brand owned by Prada.
