Kevin Durant is the face of Kith’s new capsule for USA Basketball, a collection celebrating the team’s chase for medal glory during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The line features hoodies, tees, sweatpants, shorts, and jackets, combining classic Kith silhouettes with retro-inspired basketball graphics. The highlight of the line is a leather jacket with a color-blocked design and sleeves decorated with stars and red and white stripes. The new Kith collection will be available on July 22.

A tech outage caused by a faulty Microsoft software upgrade disrupted the Friday of millions of people, with everything from canceled flights to disorganized live television broadcasts taking place worldwide. Multiple reports indicate the update issue stemmed from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which provides antivirus software to Microsoft. CrowdStrike President & CEO George Kurtz has since confirmed the situation has been “identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.”

On Friday, pro women’s basketball league Unrivaled announced its first and founding brand partner, Ally Financial. The financial services firm is now the official retail banking partner of the new 3-on-3 league founded by Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. Ally will activate hospitality and fan engagement opportunities and appear in online/digital content and in-arena signage when Unrivaled tips off in January 2025 in Miami.

Similar to Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out: Ken & Friends show, which saw him bring out 25 fellow California natives onstage in a Prime Video special last month, Metro Boomin has announced his own version. The Metro Boomin & Friends show will be in the producer’s hometown of St. Louis at The Pageant, a venue with a capacity to host 2,000 people. The “friends” portion of the show remains under wraps for now, but tickets are available for purchase on Monday via Live Nation.

After four decades, organizers for the Sundance Film Festival could be moving away from Park City and Salt Lake City as its host locations. According to a Friday release from the Sundance Institute, in addition to Park City and Salt Lake City, they’ve identified five other cities that could potentially host the festival starting in 2027. Those locations are Atlanta, Georgia; Boulder, Colorado; Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and Santa Fe, New Mexico. An announcement about the 2027 site is expected at the end of this year or early 2025.

In perhaps one of their most star-studded campaigns yet, Nike unveiled “Winning Isn’t for Everyone,” a new spot celebrating all its athletes and their participation in the Olympic Games past and present. Narrated by Willem Dafoe, it stars LeBron James, Serena Williams, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Victor Wenbamyama, A’ja Wilson, Kylian Mbappé, Sha’Carri Richardson, and more.

The new movie Twisters has earned $10.7 million in Thursday night previews ahead of its official opening weekend debut. Starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos, the summer’s latest blockbuster is projected to earn between $40 million to $50 million this weekend. The original Twister film made $41 million ($80 million today) on its opening weekend in May 1996 and collected $494.5 million globally ($992.08 million today) when its run ended.

Trustees for the University of Alabama unanimously agreed Friday to name the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium after former head coach Nick Saban. After leading Alabama to six national championships in 17 seasons, Saban retired from coaching in January. A field-naming ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 7 when the Crimson Tide face South Florida. During his time with the football powerhouse, Saban went 206-29, won nine SEC titles, and held the No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll at some point in a record 15 straight seasons.
