Pharrell Taps Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, More for LEGO Biopic
Pharrell Williams dropped the official trailer for his upcoming LEGO animated biopic Piece by Piece on Thursday, and a slew of stars are included. Releasing in theaters nationwide on Oct. 11, the film will feature Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and N.O.R.E. Pharrell also teased new music in the trailer, which is expected to drop ahead of the fall premiere.
Zendaya Becomes the Latest Face for On in Multi-year Deal
Zendaya has inked a new multi-year partnership with On, the athletic brand confirmed on Thursday. For their first act together, the entertainer and Swiss-born On launched “Dream Together,” a campaign that focuses on how movement can unite people. In her role, Zendaya will work to “drive meaningful conversations around movement and well-being, reimagine select product collections, and produce future creative campaigns.”
Nvidia Briefly Cracks $3T, Vying with Apple For No. 2 Spot in Market Cap
Nvidia cracked the $3 trillion threshold for the first time this week, which put itself briefly ahead of Apple for the second-highest market cap valuation behind Microsoft. And while Apple reclaimed its spot after Nvidia slid back down to $2.976 billion on Thursday, Nvidia’s rise to $3 trillion has been faster than any other Big Tech giant in recent memory. For reference, the AI chipmaker has tripled its value since hitting $1 trillion in May 2023. Both Nvidia and Apple trail Microsoft, whose value sits at $3.155 trillion as of Thursday.
Don Toliver Teams Up with Fortnite to Launch 'Hardstone' Video Game
Hip-hop artist and gaming fan Don Toliver revealed Thursday that he’s launched a new video game experience called “Hardstone” within the Fortnite universe. The game is played in teams of eight, forming rival biker gangs that compete against one another. Throughout the map, competitors will have to capture different locations that tie in directly with Toliver‘s upcoming new album — Hardstone Psycho. “Hardstone” is free to play and available starting June 10 in Fortnite.
GameStop Stock Rises Over 40% Following Roaring Kitty Livestream Announcement
Following Roaring Kitty‘s Thursday announcement of plans to host his first livestream in four years, shares of GameStop soared to record highs the same day. The electronics retail corporation’s stock rose as high as 47%, closing Thursday at $46.55 per share. GameStop‘s stock, which has already more than doubled this week, reached as high as $47.50 before being stopped shortly for volatility. Born Keith Gill, Roaring Kitty’s YouTube livestream is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET on Friday.
Washington Mystics Name Robinhood as New Jersey Patch Sponsor
The Washington Mystics have named financial services company Robinhood as their official jersey patch partner. In addition to the patch that’ll appear on all team home and away jerseys, the partnership promises to spotlight Robinhood’s impact in the DMV with branded content across Mystics social platforms and signage at the team’s home venue, the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The deal was facilitated by KLUTCH Sports Group‘s Global Partnerships division, which joined Robinhood as a strategic partner earlier this year.
