Netflix packed its 2026 upfront presentation with major franchise and talent announcements, including confirmation that Adam Sandlerโ€™s Grown Ups 3 is officially in development. The streamer also renewed basketball comedy Running Point for a third season and unveiled A Matter of Time, a new film starring Ben Stiller and Nicholas Galitzine. Netflix also struck a deal with the Westminster Kennel Club to become the new home of the iconic annual dog event.

Conan Oโ€™Brien is officially returning to host the 2027 Oscars, marking his third consecutive year emceeing Hollywoodโ€™s biggest night. The ceremony will air live on March 14 on ABC and Hulu, with producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan also back for a fourth straight year. NBA Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady is reportedly joining Wagner College as a strategic advisor, where heโ€™ll help oversee basketball operations, recruiting, and NIL efforts. The move follows his son Laymen McGradyโ€™s transfer to the program from Oral Roberts. McGrady joins a growing wave of NBA stars stepping into college basketball support roles, alongside names like Shaquille Oโ€™Neal, Stephen Curry, and Trae Young.

Google has unveiled the Googlebook, a new AI-native laptop line powered by Gemini and built in partnership with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Launching this fall, the device deepens Android integration and introduces customizable Gemini-powered dashboards. The launch signals Googleโ€™s broader shift away from ChromeOS toward a new Android-based AI computing platform aimed at competing with Microsoftโ€™s Copilot+ PCs.

Stephen Curry and Erick Peytonโ€™s Unanimous Media is partnering with Bryan Smileyโ€™s Hard Carry Media to launch a new sports-focused content platform built for YouTube, TikTok, and the next generation of creators. The venture will develop creator-led series and scalable sports IP, with early programming centered on NIL college basketball players. Curry will play an active creative role as he continues expanding his media footprint beyond the NBA.

The NFL has finalized its 2026 international slate, featuring a record nine games across seven countries. The lineup includes PatriotsLions in Munich, RavensCowboys in Rio, SteelersSaints in Paris, and 49ersRams in Melbourne to open the season. Brazil, France, and Australia will host NFL games for the first time, while the Jaguars and 49ers are each scheduled for multiple overseas matchups as the league continues its aggressive global expansion.

The WNBAโ€™s momentum continues to surge. ESPN announced that the Dallas Wings vs. Indiana Fever matchup on May 9 averaged 2.5 million viewers on ABC, making it the second most-watched WNBA regular-season game ever across ESPN networks. The leagueโ€™s opening weekend doubleheader averaged 1.9 million viewers, also ranking as the second most-watched opening weekend on the platform.

Amazon is overhauling its AI shopping strategy by retiring Rufus and launching โ€œAlexa for Shopping,โ€ a new AI-powered assistant built directly into Amazon search. The tool combines Alexa+ with Rufusโ€™ recommendation engine to answer questions, compare products, track prices, and complete shopping tasks using customer data and purchase history. The move marks Amazonโ€™s latest push to compete with OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity.

Cannes will host the special screening of Tangles, a new animated feature tackling Alzheimerโ€™s with a voice cast led by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Seth Rogen, Bryan Cranston, Abbi Jacobson, and Beanie Feldstein. Produced by Point Grey Pictures and Giant Ant Films, Tangles adds another star-driven, emotionally grounded animated project to this yearโ€™s Cannes lineup.

ESPNโ€™s College GameDay will open its 40th season in 2026 with two high-profile matchups, starting in Baton Rouge for LSU vs. Clemson on Sept. 5 before heading to Austin for Ohio State vs. Texas on Sept. 12. The LSU stop also marks the showโ€™s 500th road broadcast. Both games are early-season heavyweight clashes featuring recent playoff contenders, setting the tone for a marquee kickoff to the college football season.

The PWHL is expanding to two new markets for the 2026โ€“27 season, adding franchises in Las Vegas and Hamilton, Ontario. Vegas will play at T-Mobile Arena, while Hamilton will compete at the newly renovated TD Coliseum. The leagueโ€™s second expansion wave builds on its original eight-team footprint and follows strong regional demand, including a successful Hamilton neutral-site game. Team names and branding are still to be announced.
