Time magazine dropped its annual 100 most influential figures list for 2025 on Wednesday, and this year’s edition features six current or former athletes —Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, undisputed tennis GOAT Serena Williams, Unrivaled co-founders Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier, seven-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, and French swimmer Léon Marchand. Snoop Dogg, a fellow 2025 selection, will host this year’s Time100 gala in New York, which will air on ABC in a primetime slot.

CNBC reports that OpenAI is building its own social media network that will rival X. While development is still in the early stages, there’s an internal prototype focused on ChatGPT’s image generation capabilities that contains a social feed. Additional details like whether it will function as a standalone social networking app or be integrated with ChatGPT, as well as a name, remain unclear.

Something Beautiful, the forthcoming visual album by Miley Cyrus, will debut at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. This year’s lineup also includes Tow, starring Rose Byrne, Demi Lovato, and Octavia Spencer; The Best You Can with Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick; and Everything’s Going to Be Great featuring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney. Yanuni, a climate justice doc produced by Leonardo DiCaprio, is the festival’s closing-night presentation.

It’s clear A24 has solidified itself as a force in entertainment, but now the indie firm is eyeing another industry with the launch of A24 Music. The company didn’t share much on the supposed new music venture, only adding “stay tuned” to its Wednesday Instagram post. A24 Music had previously been operating as an in-house label, releasing soundtracks that coincide with its award-winning films. Not to mention, Jesse Eisenberg recently signed on with the company to direct a musical theater comedy.

SZA is entering the beauty space with the launch of her Not Beauty makeup line. The debut collection boasts three lip gloss shades ($23 each), each inspired by the singer’s unique layered lip look. Products will be exclusively available at pop-up shops across the U.S. during her and Kendrick Lamar‘s Grand National Tour starting this week.

Players a part of this year’s NBA Playoff teams will split a massive $35 million in bonuses, with each team receiving a portion contingent on how far they advance and regular-season standings. The total amount is up $1 million from last season. Athletes will earn anywhere from $466,263 (roughly $30,400 per player based on a 15-player roster) to potentially $12.4 million ($828,000 per player) for the NBA Finals champion if it is the Oklahoma City Thunder, who concluded the regular season with the league’s top record at 68-14.

The first Young Thug album since 2023 is on the way, with the artist sharing a link to the official website on social media on Wednesday. While the release date and track list remain a mystery, the album’s name, UY Scutii, derives from a supergiant star. This is Young Thug’s first album since dropping Business is Business in June 2023, although he was recently featured on Lil Baby’s “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber” with Future. Fans can pre-order the project in various forms, including digital, CDs, and vinyl, on the website.

Organizers for the 77th Emmy Awards confirmed Wednesday that comedian Nate Bargatze will host this year’s ceremony celebrating achievements in television. Nominations will be announced on July 15, with the event set to air live on CBS from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET. It will also stream live on Paramount+. This is the latest hosting gig for Bargatze, who was the top-earning comedian in the world last year after selling more than 1.2 million tickets.

Ice Cube is embarking on his first headlining tour in over a decade, announcing via Instagram that his Truth to Power: 4 Decades of Attitude Tour is hitting various North American cities this fall. It begins Sept. 4 in Brooklyn, making stops in Baltimore, Austin, Vancouver, and his hometown of Los Angeles before wrapping up in Toronto on Oct. 9. Pre-sale has already begun, while general on-sale tickets are available for purchase Friday at 10 a.m. local time.

Selena Gomez is set to receive the 2025 Woman of the Year award at the Billboard Latin Women in Music event next week in Miami. Per Billboard, this award is given to a female artist “who has demonstrated exceptional success, leadership, and cultural influence in the music industry and beyond.” Previous winners include Shakira and Karol G.
