Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce to Open Kansas City Restaurant Called 1587 Prime
Chiefs teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are taking their partnership off the field by opening a new restaurant, 1587 Prime, in Kansas City, it was announced Thursday. A play off of their respective numbers, 1587 Prime will open inside the Loews Kansas City Hotel in 2025. The Super Bowl champs are teaming up with hospitality group Noble 33 on the project. “[Mahomes and Kelce] are natural hosts and can’t wait to bring a unique modern American steakhouse experience to Kansas City,” Noble 33 co-founder Tosh Berman told Good Morning America.
South Carolina Star MiLaysia Fulwiley Signs with Curry Brand
South Carolina standout freshman MiLaysia Fulwiley is signing an NIL deal with Curry Brand, the company announced on Friday. In her first season under Dawn Staley, Fulwiley is averaging 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals while playing 18.7 minutes per game for the undefeated and Under Armour-branded Gamecocks. Fulwiley first gained national attention as a standout at Curry’s high school basketball camps, so the signing serves as a bit of a full-circle moment for the young star. “Welcoming MiLaysia Fulwiley to the Curry Brand team is something I am super excited about. She is such a unique talent and an unbelievable ambassador for the game of basketball, obviously with strong North Carolina ties,” Stephen Curry told Boardroom.
Shaq & Steph Team Up for New Allen Iverson Documentary on Prime Video
Shaquille O’Neal and Stephen Curry‘s entertainment companies are teaming up to make a new documentary that highlights the life of NBA legend Allen Iverson. The project will air on Amazon‘s Prime Video and be produced by Shaq’s Jersey Legends and Curry’s Unanimous Media. “His cultural impact was bigger than basketball and this documentary sets out to properly define his legacy,” Shaq said. Iverson retired from the league as an 11-time All-Star and won the NBA MVP in 2001. “I’m ready to tell my story my way, authentic and unapologetically. I look forward to people seeing a side of me they haven’t seen before,” Iverson said.
Netflix to Feature Carlos Alcaraz in Docuseries
Tennis superstar Carlos Alcaraz will be the subject of an upcoming Netflix docuseries, the streaming giant announced on Thursday. The filming for the project began during The Netflix Slam, which he won by defeating Rafael Nadal in the live match, and will continue throughout the 2024 season, following Alcaraz on and off the court. “People are going to get to watch everything you don’t see on a tennis court. I think it’s something very different. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I will,” Alcaraz said. The 20-year-old is currently ranked second in the world behind Novak Djokovic, who he defeated in the 2023 Wimbledon final in five seats.
'Power' Announces Expansion of the Franchise with new Prequel, Signals the End of 'Power Book II: Ghost'
Starz released a teaser trailer for Season 4 of Power Book II: Ghost on Thursday, along with an announcement that the fourth season will be the show’s last. The final season will air in two parts, premiering on June 7 and Sept. 6. The news comes days after Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch talked about containing costs and developing newer shows versus keeping older ones alive. “You look at the [Power] map and say, ‘OK, if I take one of those characters out and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost,’” Hirsch said. In turn, the company announced on Wednesday it’s expanding the Power universe with a prequel series.
