Bored & Hungry will open as a pop-up beginning April 9 in Southern California.
The Bored Ape Yacht Club is entering the physical world.
As BAYC continues to dominate the NFT space, more influential figures want in on the Bored Ape action, including entrepreneur and Web3 enthusiast Andy Nguyen, who purchased Bored Ape #6184 earlier this month.
Nguyen’s reputation as a Food Network maverick, having co-founded Afters Ice Cream, is coming in handy. He has revealed plans for a full-blown Bored Ape Yacht Club restaurant called Bored & Hungry.
“The goal is to give back to the growing Web 3.0 community and open the doors to those who want to learn more about this new Web 3/NFT world,” Nguyen said about Bored & Hungry. “Our job is to educate the public and show people that you can create a brand/business out of this IP — taking away the stigma of, ‘It’s just a jpeg.’”
Bored & Hungry will take on a smashburger concept — partnering with legendary Houston rapper Bun B’s Trill Burgers and Belief Burgers to marry two IRL concepts under Nguyen’s Bored Ape brand. The restaurant will debut on April 9 in Long Beach, California.
BAYC owners have granted Nguyen the right to use their IP. As part of the exclusive club, all Bored Ape owners will receive a meal on opening day, which will also feature restaurant merchandise and a handful of Web3 and NFT-related surprises.
The plan is to have Bored & Hungry operate as a pop-up for the first 90 days, and then expand with multiple locations.
Additionally, Bored & Hungry will be the first brick-and-mortar location for Bun B’s Trill Burgers, which he opened up in Houston with Nguyen last year alongside Patsy Vivares, Benson Vivares, and Nick Scurfield.
