GloRilla, Shams Highlight NBA All-Star Celebrity Game Lineup
ESPN and the NBA announced Tuesday the rosters for the 2026 Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, happening at the Kia Forum on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The broadcast team includes Mark Jones, Richard Jefferson, and Monica McNutt. Celebrities from music, film, TV, sports, and social media are participating, including Shams Charania, Keegan-Michael Key, GloRilla, Jeremy Lin, Taylor Frankie Paul, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Keenan Allen, Cafu, Tacko Fall, and Simu Liu. Returning stars include Rome Flynn, Andre De Grasse, Dylan Wang, and Jason โWhite Chocolateโ Williams.
Josh D’Amaro Named New CEO of Disney
The Walt Disney Company confirmed that Josh DโAmaro, a 28-year veteran with extensive theme park experience but limited film and TV background, will succeed Bob Iger as CEO, ending a nearly three-year search. The board voted unanimously, and DโAmaro will take over on March 18 at Disneyโs annual shareholder meeting and join the companyโs board. After stepping down, Iger will remain as senior adviser and board member until his retirement on Dec. 31. DโAmaro, previously chairman of Disney Experiences, which generates $36 billion annually and accounted for about 60% of Disneyโs profit last year, was given a first-year compensation target of roughly $38 million, including a $9.7 million one-time bonus.
NBC Bringing Super Bowl Pregame Show to Alcatraz Island
For the first time in history, Alcatraz Island will serve as a live broadcast location for NBC Sportsโ Super Bowl LX Pregame Show on Sunday, streaming on NBC and Peacock. Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, and Jac Collinsworth will anchor segments from multiple spots on the island starting at 1 p.m. ET and will explore Alcatrazโs past as a military base and federal prison, its role in seabird conservation, and the 19-month Native American occupation advocating for freedom and civil rights.
Mark Ronson to Receive Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at The BRITs 2026
British-born producer and musician Mark Ronson will receive the BRIT Awardsโ Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, the first honoree in seven years. Over his decades-long career, he has shaped multi-platinum hits like “Uptown Funk” with Bruno Mars, “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse, and “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” with Miley Cyrus, earning two BRITs, nine Grammys, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. He joins iconic past recipients such as David Bowie, Elton John, Queen, and U2.
Don Toliver’s ‘Octane’ Tour to Begin This Spring
Don Toliver is hitting the road for his 2026 Octane tour, supporting his album of the same name. The tour kicks off May 8 at Rolling Loud Orlando and spans 30 North American cities, including stops in Houston, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles, wrapping July 5 in Denver, with a headlining set at Milwaukee Summerfest on June 19. SahBabii, SoFaygo, and CHASE B will join him on the road, with the tour billed as โOCTANE TOUR . PHASE 1,โ hinting at a possible second leg. Nintendo Switch 2 Is Officially Companyโs Best-Selling Console as Sales Top 17 Million Units
Nintendo shared Tuesday that its Nintendo Switch 2 has sold over 17 million units since its launch last June, making it the companyโs fastest-selling console ever. In contrast, the original Nintendo Switch sold just 3.25 million units during the same period, down 66% from the previous year. The company sold seven million Switch 2 consoles in its most recent quarter alone and maintains its forecast of 19 million by March 31, the end of its fiscal year. Nintendo also sold 37.9 million Switch 2 games and 108.9 million Switch titles, including 14 million copies of Mario Kart World and 4.25 million of Donkey Kong Bananza.
Under Armour Announces $1 Million Grant for Girls Flag Football
Under Armour and The DICKโs Sporting Goods Foundation are committing $1 million to the Click Clark: Next Era Grant, aimed at removing barriers for girls in flag football. The initiative focuses on building confidence, leadership, and opportunities by providing financial support, top-tier equipment, and coach education to help young athletes succeed on and off the field. As part of the effort, Under Armour and USA Football will host a girlsโ flag football clinic in Oakland during the Super Bowl LX Fan Experience this week, giving 80+ students apparel, training, and the chance to attend the USA vs. Mexico flag football Game.
Tracie Laymon to Write and Direct Live-Action ‘Tony The Tattooed Man’ Movie for Mattel Studios
Tracie Laymon, the filmmaker behind SXSW prize-winner Bob Trevino Likes It, is set to write and direct a live-action Tony the Tattooed Man feature for Mattel Studios. First introduced in 1992, Tony was a muscle-bound action figure designed to be customized with temporary tattoos, later gaining cult status as a rare vintage collectible after a short market run. Laymon plans to reimagine the toy as a character-driven drama blending surreal fantasy and emotional depth, with oversight from Darian Greenbaum and Steve Spohr, and production by Robbie Brenner and Ivan Sanchez.
LA28 Unveils Venues for the 2028 Olympic Football (Soccer) Tournament Matches
The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games announced six additional U.S. venues that will host matches for the 2028 Olympic Football (Soccer) tournaments, with games played nationwide before the finals at Rose Bowl Stadium. Group stage and knockout matches will take place in metro areas including New York, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San Josรฉ, and San Diego, with gold medal matches set for July 28, 2028 (men) and July 29, 2028 (women). LA28 will also make Olympic history by featuring more womenโs football teams than menโs, expanding the womenโs tournament to 16 teams while the menโs field adjusts to 12.
Cineverse Sets Late Summer Theatrical Release For ‘Air Bud Returns’
Cineverse and Air Bud Entertainment will release Air Bud Returns nationwide on Aug. 21. The announcement coincides with National Golden Retriever Day. The film, written and directed by franchise creator Robert Vince, stars Tracy Ifeachor, Edwin Lee Gibson, Tyler Labine, and Aydin Artis. It follows 13-year-old Jacob, who discovers his late father played basketball with Buddy, the legendary dog, and bonds with a new golden retriever named Buddy. Together, they form a team and compete in a Christmas tournament.
