The Golden State Warriors are off to a tremendous start to their 2021-22 campaign. The Warriors’ Jordan Poole led all scorers with 26 points on Friday to lead his team over the Pelicans 126-85. Golden State improved to 7-1 with the win, tying them with the Jazz for the best record in the West.
Browns, Odell Beckham Jr. Reach Release Agreement
Odell Beckham Jr. marked his 29th birthday on Friday by negotiating the terms of his release by the Cleveland Browns. The wide receiver was dismissed from practice earlier this week by head coach Kevin Stefanski. OBJ will be placed on waivers on Monday at 4 p.m. EST and interested teams must agree to cover the remaining $7.25 million of his salary. If he is not claimed by Tuesday, he will clear waivers become a free agent.
Oilers Outlast Rangers in OT Shootout
The Oilers and the Rangers kicked off Friday evening’s pre-game by honoring six-time Stanley Cup champ Kevin Lowe – who played for both teams. And the game that followed harnessed the vintage appeal of the high-scoring, fast-paced action of the 1980s for which Lowe was a poster child. Edmonton captain Connor McDavid scored a highlight-worthy goal in the third to notch the game at five goals apiece. Oilers’ star center Leon Draisaitl netted the overtime game-winner to seal the dramatic comeback 6-5 at home on Friday.

Dusty Baker Set to Return as Astros Skipper
Following their World Series loss to the Braves, Houston skipper Dusty Baker has some “unfinished business” left to resolve. The team announced on Friday that they resigned their manager to a one-year deal for the 2022 season. A battle of the major leagues may be coming to a boxing ring in Tampa this December. Reports emerged on Friday indicating that three-time NBA All-Star Deron Williams is confirmed for an undercard fight during the Jake Paul/Tommy Fury fight. His potential opponent: 38-year-old, five-time Pro Bowler Frank Gore. Gore, who racked up the third-most rushing yards (16,000) in NFL history, has previously expressed interest in pursuing a boxing career following his retirement from the gridiron.

Sports Illustrated is seeking to connect with the next generation of fans and to do so they have teamed up with Snapchat for the direct-to-mobile series, “America’s Best Sports Videos.” Hosted by SI’s Ashley Nicole Moss, the weekly series, which is set to run every Friday, will capture the best (and worst) clips of user-generated footage.
Adidas, Jazz Commit to the Community with Multi-year Partnership Extension
Adidas and the Utah Jazz announced on Friday that they will extend their ongoing partnership. They signaled that they will work together to support community outreach efforts, including the continuation of their “Community MVP” award, which is driven by Donovan Mitchell’s signature Determination Over Negativity, which is a nod to the Adidas athlete’s signature D.O.N. shoe.
Peloton Institutes Global Hiring Freeze as Stock Plummets
The at-home fitness company rounded out a difficult week on Friday by announcing that they would institute a company-wide hiring freeze. The news comes after Peloton revised its annual projections in the wake of a disappointing Q3 report, which posted actual sales figures that were 20% lower than anticipated. Shares fell 35% on Friday, the largest single-day drop in company history.
