Oz Pearlman on Psychology, Influence, and Why Relationships Rule Sports and Hollywood

The popular mentalist sits down for the latest episode of Network with Rich Kleiman to reveal how he “engineers people’s minds.”

Oz Pearlman, the renowned mentalist captivating audiences across sports and entertainment, has built an impressive roster of high-profile fans. From performing for stars like Bradley Cooper, Jimmy Fallon, and Joe Rogan to mesmerizing powerhouse teams including the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Lakers, Pearlman has become the go-to entertainer for some of the biggest names in the game.

By his own admission, Pearlman is not a psychic, but rather, he claims that “nothing I’m doing can’t be explained by science.”

“I went to school for engineering, and what I really do for a living is engineer people’s minds, and reverse engineer people’s minds,” Pearlman said on the latest episode of Network with Rich Kleiman. “How people think is my job; it’s knowing how people will behave, react, how I can misdirect and influence them, and at the end of the day, create these incredibly memorable moments and experiences that to the smartest people in the world, literally will say that there’s just no way that’s possible, yet we know it is. And that’s what’s so fun about it.”

The duo also talks about Adam Schefter and why this is the golden age of sports media, and explores how building and maintaining relationships is the key to success in any business.

“I started to create my own tricks. I started to custom-tailor my material that wasn’t about me, ” Pearlman said. “That’s like the biggest lesson of life. It’s not about you; make it about them. And the more you make it about them — be it your audience, your clients, your friends, your family, the people you have to win over and influence — the more success you will find across the board.”
