What’s the Value of a J. Cole Feature?

Last Updated: April 17, 2024
J. Cole cleared the air on rumors of his feature fees. But how does he compare to some of the other biggest names in hip-hop?

J. Cole has one of the most coveted flows in hip-hop. From Jay-Z to Drake, Ari Lennox to 21 Savage, he’s found himself on some of the biggest tracks of the last decade. But how much is an appearance from the Dreamville rapper worth?

Cole seemingly answered the question during his appearance on Young Thug’s 2019 “London.”

A verse from me is like eleven birds
I did the math it’s like 2000 dollars every word

Some quick math suggests that he secured a pretty little bag with his collection of features through the years. His 597-word appearance on Wale’s “My Boy?” A $1.2 million check.

However, he recently took to Lil Yachty’s podcast to clear the record.

“Yo, bro, it’s just a bar, bro,” Cole said to Yachty. “Like, a lot of my bars be really on point, but that’s just a flex.”

This got Boardroom’s Gabe Oshin thinking. How would the fictional price tag compare to some of the biggest names in the rap game? He breaks it down.
