We are mere days away from the tip-off of the 2022-23 NBA season. The talent-stacked league features no shortage of superstars, and according to Forbes’ most recent list, they are getting paid. LeBron James ($124.9 million) and Stephen Curry ($95.1 million) took the No. 1 and 2 slots on the list of highest-paid NBA stars. The total figure combines both the on- and off-court earnings. Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Russell Westbrook round out the league’s top five.

Netflix Introduces New Pricing Tiers

Netflix has endless options for your weekend entertainment. The streaming giant will now offer multiple options for membership. Netflix unveiled a three-tiered subscription model after months of rumors about ad integration. Consumers have the option to select from a basic package that features ads for $6.99, one without ads for $9.99, and the premium standard package without ads for $15.49. The company hemorrhaged subscribers in the last year after announcing a price boost and amidst enhanced options in the streaming wars.

Universal Music Group Dominates Music Market Share

Bad Bunny is far and away 2022’s most transcendent artist. The Puerto Rican superstar sits atop the charts with his breakout album Un Verano Sin Ti and continues to smash records in all facets of the business. Turns out, he is also fueling Universal Music Group‘s sheer dominance of the music industry. According to a recent analysis, UMG claims 37.2% of the overall marketshare, followed by Sony Music Group (26.7%) and Warner Music Group (19.3%) through the first nine months of the year.

Liverpool Makes Its Way to the Metaverse

The quest for fan engagement is taking root in the metaverse. Liverpool F.C. announced on Friday that it is teaming up with Meta to provide virtual kits via the Meta Avatars Store. It marks the first time Meta has ever made sports apparel available for purchase in a digital format. Fans can now deck their online avatars out in Liverpool’s home or away kits. They can also purchase a lifestyle outfit of a red hoodie and sweatpants set adorned with the Liver bird that appears on the team’s crest.

Barcelona to Sport OVO Kits at El Clásico to Celebrate Drake's 50B Streams

Earlier this year, Barcelona announced a sweeping partnership with Spotify. Now, the streaming service is bringing a signature sound to Camp Nou. To commemorate Drake‘s emergence as the first artist with 50 billion streams, the club will sport OVO kits at this weekend’s El Clásico match against Real Madrid. The OVO owl will replace the Spotify logo on the team’s home jersey.

Shedeur Sanders Inks Breakthrough Deal with BRADY Brand

The Jackson State Tigers are sitting atop the SWAC and it’s because QB Shedeur Sanders keeps winning. The 20-year-old star announced the newest addition to his stacked NIL portfolio on Thursday. Sanders is linking up with another elite quarterback as the newest brand ambassador for BRADY Brand. This isn’t the first time the two have linked, as Sanders was featured in the brand’s inaugural campaign. Sanders will have input in areas like product development and wear testing. He will additionally be outfitted in BRADY gear for upcoming games during Jackson State’s ongoing football season. Financial details of the NIL deal are not available at this time.
