L.A. took care of business Tuesday night, beating the Giants 7-2 behind a stellar night on the mound from Walker Buehler. Game 5 is on Thursday night at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

Freddie Freeman launched an eighth-inning solo home run to help the Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 Tuesday night and advance to the NLCS. The Braves will face the winner of Game 5 between the Dodgers and Giants on Thursday night.

NFLPA Wants Emails Related to WFT Probe Following Gruden Resignation

The NFL Players Association announced it would seek the release of nearly 650,000 emails related to a workplace misconduct probe of the Washington Football Team. The request comes after leaked emails from the investigation revealed Gruden used racist, misogynistic, and anti-gay language in correspondence to former WFT president Bruce Allen.

Penguins Shock Lightning 6-2 on NHL Opening Night

Goaltender Tristan Jarry made 26 saves to help the Pittsburgh Penguins take down the defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 in the NHL season opener Tuesday night. Brian Boyle and Danton Heinen got things going with early second-period goals, and the Penguins put in three empty-net goals in the third to seal the win.

Astros Pound White Sox 10-1 to Advance to 5th Straight ALCS

The Houston Astros are headed back to the ALCS for the fifth-straight time after a 10-1 rout of the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday afternoon. The Astros, who will take on the Boston Red Sox in the next round, are only the third team ever to appear in five straight league championship series and are the first to do it since the Atlanta Braves reached eight straight from 1991 to 1999.

Golden Knights Edge Kraken 4-3 to Spoil NHL Debut

Max Pacioretty scored twice to help the Golden Knights beat the Seattle Kraken 4-3 in the second game of the NHL’s opening night on Tuesday. The Kraken made things interesting, erasing a 3-0 deficit before giving up the winning goal to  Chandler Stephenson midway through the third period.

Athletes Unlimited Announces New Women’s Basketball League

And on Tuesday, the organization announced the creation of its fourth league: a professional women’s basketball competition that will make its debut in January. Washington Mystics guard and WNBA champion Natasha Cloud, seven-year WNBA veteran Sydney Colson, and longtime Chicago Sky forward Ty Young have joined the league as its inaugural signings. The Athletes Unlimited Basketball schedule will not overlap with the WNBA season.

NFL and Two Circles Make International Marketing Deal

The NFL has broadened its focus on growing the game globally with the expansion of the International Series to Germany and last month’s announcement that teams will be able to directly appeal to foreign markets for the first time. To help manage this transition, the shield has brokered a deal with sports marketing firm Two Circles, who will be responsible for managing international ad sales across digital platforms.
