Gregg Popovich Becomes Highest-Paid NBA Coach with New Spurs Contract

The San Antonio Spurs are investing in their future. The team has reportedly inked a new five-year contract with Gregg Popovich, which ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports is worth at least $80 million. If that number holds, it makes him the highest-paid coach in NBA history with an average annual payout of no less than $16 million.

Travis Scott Drops More Hints About ‘Utopia’ Album, Performance

The road to Utopia is nearing its end. Travis Scott dropped a pre-order for his highly-anticipated follow up to 2018’s Astroworld. The link indicates that there will be five unique covers for the album. Utopia still does not have a confirmed release date at this time, but billboard around Los Angeles suggest that It will be out on July 21. However, the “Sicko Mode” rapper also announced that he will livestream an upcoming performance from the pyramids of Egypt on July 28. Back in May, Scott previewed the album in the Houston Astros’ locker room. He also gifted his hometown team pairs of his coveted Air Jordan 1 Low ‘Olives,’ which quickly sold out upon their release in April.

Megan Rapinoe Announces Soccer Retirement on the Road to the World Cup

All eyes are on the land down under. As the USWNT prepares to face the best competition in the world at the upcoming FIFA World Cup, one of its stars has announced that it will be her final appearance representing her country. Megan Rapinoe revealed this weekend that she will retire from club and country at the end of the 2023 NWSL season. The two-time World Cup champion has been a cornerstone of the national team since she was called up in 2006.

NBA In-Season Tournament Details Revealed

The first-ever NBA in-season tournament will debut next season. Adam Silver unveiled the details and key groupings at this weekend’s Summer League celebrations. All 30 teams will compete for the NBA Cup in November and December, with the semifinals and finals taking place Dec. 7 and 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Taylor Swift Sets a New Spotify Record with ‘Speak Now’ Release

The summer of Taylor Swift continues. Fresh off a July 4th hiatus during which she linked with famous friends including the Haim sisters and Selena Gomez, Swift released her re-recording of her 2010 studio album Speak Now. It hit streaming services on Friday. The album immediately set new records, becoming the most-streamed country album in a single day in history. Additionally, it became the most-streamed album in a single thus far in 2023 on Spotify. The streaming giant celebrated the accomplishment, tweeting, “We’ve had the time of our lives breaking records with you 💜 @taylorswift13.”

‘Insidious: The Red Door’ Takes Top Box Office Spot with $32.6M Opening

Move over Indiana Jones, there’s a new North American box office winner this week. The fifth installment in the Insidious series took in $32.6 million. The performance instantly put the film in the black, as it only cost $16 million to make. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny dropped to the second spot. The fifth and final film in the iconic Harrison Ford-led series notched $26.5 million in North American sales.
