Beyoncé Secures the Bag at Dubai Luxury Hotel Opening

How does one of the world’s most luxurious hotels prove what it has to offer? With a Beyoncé performance to celebrate its grand opening, of course. The Atlantis Royal opened in Dubai with a private concert with Queen Bey, who was paid a reported appearance fee between $24 and $35 million for the concert, which also included a special guest appearance from Blue Ivy. Never one to miss an opportunity, Bey utilized her time in the UAE to preview her upcoming Park Trail collection at the resort’s Nobu by the Beach.  While the queen herself wasn’t at the event, her songs served as the soundtrack to the popular event.

Stewie is on the market. The 2018 MVP reportedly is entertaining offers from a number of teams across the WNBA. While her future may be unclear, she’s making her desires known. Stewart tweeted on Sunday, saying, “I would love to be part of a deal that helps subsidize charter travel for the entire WNBA. I would contribute my NIL, posts + production hrs to ensure we all travel in a way that prioritizes player health + safety, which ultimately results in a better product. Who’s with me?” The message broke her recent streak of cryptic emoji tweets and drew the attention of the likes of Sue Bird, Sabrina Ionescu, and more.

Drake Wraps Two-Night Run at the Apollo, Teases Upcoming Project

Drake got personal with his fans, even taking them into a set inspired by his teenage bedroom at his two-night show at Harlem’s iconic Apollo Theater. The shows, produced in partnership with Sirius’s Sound 42, allowed the Canadian rapper to dive deep into his catalog. He also brought out Harlem royalty Dipset, 21 Savage, and Lil Uzi Vert. for guest appearances, even wearing Cam’ron’s pink fur. While tickets were available to only Sirius subscribers, Drizzy is headed on the road. Leaked screenshots show a stacked “It’s All a Blur” tour. However, real fans are cautious after the fake publicity tour that accompanied the Her Loss roll out. Additionally, onstage, Drizzy teased the possibility of a new project coming this year.

“Hand of God” Ball Heads to Auction

Last year, Maradona’s “Hand of God” jersey took in $6.2 million at the final gavel at Sotheby’s. Now, one of the game’s key pieces of memorabilia is heading to auction at Goldin Auctions. The photo-matched ball from the 1986 World Cup is up for auction with bidding starting at $600,000. The baseline bid includes a buyer’s premium. The auction is live until Feb. 8.

Spotify Prepares to Lay off 6% of Workforce

The tech layoffs continue. After last week’s purge at Google – which included long-time and recently promoted employees – Spotify announced that it will let go of 600 employees (6% overall). In total, the cut will cost the company an estimated $38 million in severance payouts. The move is not a total surprise. The company announced late last year that it planned to slow its growth following a difficult financial year, which saw a huge cut in advertising funds. In response to the news, the stock jumped over 3% in premarket trading.
