Brittney Griner Plans to Re-Sign with the Mercury for the 2023 Season

Britney Griner is finally home. After reports emerged that the Phoenix Mercury star celebrated her return to American soil by shooting some hoops – and laying down some dunks, Griner released a statement via Instagram revealing her intentions to re-sign with the team for the 2023 WNBA season. “I look forward to being able to say ‘thank you’ to those of you who advocated, wrote, and posted for me in person soon,” she penned in the post’s caption.

Sotheby's Lists 2013 LeBron James Finals Jersey

LeBron James is no stranger to hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy. A jersey that King James wore in the 2013 Finals between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs is headed to auction at Sotheby’s. Sources close to the listing suggest that it may fetch as much as $3 million at the final gavel. Bidding is set to begin on Jan 27.

NWSL Expansion Focuses on Three Finalists

The NWSL is looking to expand. As the league grapples with impending changes in the wake of the troubling finding of the US Soccer report, it is examining its path forward. Due to a raise in popularity and rocketing demand, its near-term future includes new teams in new markets. According to Just Women’s Sports, the league is looking to add two new teams in the 2024 season. Reports emerged that there are three remaining cities in the running for a new team: Boston, Tampa, or San Francisco.

Donald Glover Steps into the MCU with Upcoming Spider-Man Villain Film

Atlanta may be over, but Donald Glover has a whole new set of creative pursuits to keep him busy. Glover will produce and star in an upcoming film about the Hypno-Hustler. This won’t be his first foray into the Spider-Verse, as Glover starred in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. 

“Avatar: The Way of Water” Nets $17M During Pre-Screenings

James Cameron‘s big blue return is finally here. Avatar: The Way of Water opened in theaters around the globe on Friday. However, pre-screenings across the US notched $17 million in ticket sales. A huge proportion of the audience (61%) opted into the 3D experience. Early projections suggest that the film is on track to make $175 million in its opening weekend.

OVO Drops New Collab with FaZe Clan

OVO is on a run. The Drake-backed brand has launched a number of collabs recently with everyone from the Toronto Raptors to Looney Toons. Now, OVO is launching a new line with FaZe Clan on Dec. 21. However, the specifics of what’s ahead are less clear. OVO teased the collab in a Twitter post, which they followed up with the caption: “The New Athletes.”
