'Blue Beetle' Takes Top Box Office Spot with $25.4M Opening

Barbie’s box office reign has come to an end. After four weeks on top, the summer’s smash success slipped to number two, after it took in an additional $21.4 million at the domestic box office. DC Studios’ Blue Beetle took the top spot, netting $25.4 million on its opening weekend. The film, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto features a predominantly Latino cast, and represents a hopeful next chapter for DC Studios, which saw disappointing returns on its last two films. OppenheimerTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, andStrays rounded out this week’s top five films.

Viva España. Spain reigns as the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion. In a nail-biting battle, the squad outlasted the Lionesses of England 1-0 on goal from Olga Carmona. The victory marks Spain’s first-ever women’s World Cup win. The success comes in the wake of a controversial year for the Spanish program. Several of the country’s best players opted out of the World Cup in protest of head coach Jorge Vilda, citing a lack of a professional environment according to inside reports.

Angel Reese Makes $12K Donation to High School Hoops Program

Amidst her massive success, Angel Reese won’t forget where she came from. The Baltimore native announced that she will donate $12,000 to cover the tuition of one lucky hooper to attend her alma mater, St. Frances Academy. Reese received a similar scholarship when she attended the private school. Throughout her time in college, the LSU national champion has cashed in on NIL opportunities, amassing an estimated $1.7 million in deals, which include Mielle and Dwayne Johnson’s Zoa.

Drake Expected to Drop 'For All the Dogs' on Aug. 25

The next Drake album is almost here. Industry sources revealed that the album is “imminent,” projecting that the project will drop on Friday, Aug. 25. Drizzy teased the album, For All the Dogs, back in June alongside the release of his first poetry book, Titles Ruin EverythingThe date also marks International Dog Day. The rapper is currently on the road with his “It’s All a Blur” tour, which has amassed massive revenue on its 56-stop run that will go through October.

Djokovic Outlasts Alcaraz as Cincinnati Prize Money Tops $1M for First Time

It was a battle of the generations in Cincinnati on Sunday. Novak Djokovic outlasted Carlos Alcaraz to take home the title at the Cincinnati Open. The win brings their lifetime head-to-head record to an even two and two. The 20-year-old Spaniard took home the first set, but couldn’t hold on amidst the scorching heat. Djokovic took the victory and the prize pot valued at $1.1 million, which is a warm-up for the final major of the year, as the U.S. Open is set to kick off in Queens on Aug. 28. On the women’s side, Coco Gauff defeated Karolína Muchová to take home the title.

Travis Scott's 'Utopia' Remains Locked in at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Travis Scott is still on top. The Houston rapper took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for the third consecutive week, moving the equivalent of 185,000 units. For Scott, the achievement marks the second time he’s held on to number one for three consecutive weeks. His Astroworld project notched the same achievement in 2018. Morgan Wallen, Karol G., the Barbie soundtrack, and Taylor Swift’s Midnightsrounded out the top five this week.
