As the calendar turns to November, Mariah Carey officially announced that the holiday season is upon us. However, the Queen of Christmas isn’t the only one getting in the mood. Jason and Travis Kelce teamed up with the iconic Boyz II Men for their single “It’s Christmastime (In Cleveland Heights).” The song is part of the upcoming charitable album A Philly Special Christmas Party, the third installment of the seasonal compilation by Jason and his former Eagles teammates Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

The Collins Dictionary has declared “brat” as its word of the year. The green-coded word popularized by Charli XCX’s 2024 smash album – and de facto Kamala Harris campaign aesthetic  – reflects a “confident, independent, and hedonistic attitude.” Upon the announcement, the company explained its choice by describing brat as a “cultural phenomenon that has resonated with people globally.” The British artist continues to ride her album’s wave, as she was announced as both the host and musical guest for the Nov. 16 episode.

Ellie the Elephant has yet another stop on her epic media run following the New York Liberty’s championship season. The beloved mascot will take her place among the floats at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade alongside a select group of members of the team. They will be featured on the “Gift of Freedom” float. The parade will also feature appearances from Jimmy Fallon & The Roots!, Bishop Briggs, Ariana Madix, and many more.  

After 15 years as the voice of MLB Network, media veteran Bob Costas is retiring from play-by-play work. Costas, 72, confirmed to The Athletic that his days in the booth for baseball will come to an end. However, he will remain with MLBN as an analyst and contributor to historical features and Hall of Fame inductions.

George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world may be moving to the big screen. When the mega-popular series Game of Thrones concluded in 2019, HBO was resistant to the idea of a silver screen adaptation despite the support from Martin himself. However, it appears that the network has come around to the idea. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a GoT film has been “quietly developing” with Warner Bros. and HBO/Max merging their most valuable IP. A firm release date or official plans are yet to be announced.

Permanently embedded in the arts, the Brooklyn Nets have taken their fashion forays one step further with a new capsule collection designed by KidSuper. Spanning outerwear, accessories, and knits, the Colm Dillane-directed range was first teased at Fall/Winter 2024 Paris Fashion Week, paving the way for a Barclays Center launch as the Nets host the Chicago Bulls on Nov. 1.

Long considered America’s modern pastime for staying in, Netflix is taking its talents outside to Sin City. The streaming giant announced that Netflix Bites will open as a restaurant concept on the Las Vegas strip, extending the pop-up concept teased last year in Los Angeles. According to Eater, the one-year residency will take place at MGM Grand beginning in early 2025.

Media multi-hyphenate Jamie Foxx is returning to showbiz on a familiar stage due to unlikely circumstances. The entertainer is taking on his original title of comedian in a new Netflix showcase that will center around his April 2023 hospitalization. “What Had Happened Was…” will serve as a humorous retrospective of the event, which left Foxx hospitalized for weeks in April 2023. The special is set to make its streaming debut on Dec. 10.
