Tyler, the Creator is ready for his comeback. The rapper announced that he will drop his seventh full-length studio album CHROMAKOPIA on Monday, Oct. 28. The news comes just one day after he released visuals for “St. Chroma.” Alongside the album news, he also updated his website to reflect the new release, dropped a line of corresponding merch, and hinted at an upcoming tour. 

Netflix is still the largest streaming service in the land. The streaming giant announced that it added 5 million subscribers in its Q3 earnings report, which also highlighted a stark increase in both profits and revenue. With the new surge, its subscriber total eclipsed 282 million worldwide. Netflix reported $9.83 billion in revenue, outpacing projections that estimated the number at $9.76 billion. The company’s shareholder letter indicated that it will continue to target growth with expanded efforts related to its content and advertising as it set its end-of-year revenue estimates between $43 and $44 billion. 

The Wall Street Journal is all in on the WNBA. For its magazine’s “Innovator Issue,” the WSJ profiled the magnificent growth experienced by the W over the last several years, featuring reigning MVP A’ja Wilson and outstanding rookie Angel Reese as two of the league’s most exciting faces. Both stars discussed their reflections on the league’s expanding fan base, the opportunities for ongoing evolution at this critical inflection point, and more in their respective sit-down interviews. 

In a positive sign for the economy‘s health, September’s retail report suggests that consumer spending is on an upward trajectory. Overall, sales rose by 0.4% in September, more than initial estimates had projected, and marking a significant bump from August’s performance of 0.1%. The positive report reflects the economy’s overall resilience and suggests that the Federal Reserve’s rate cut is already impacting the economy at scale. 

Amazon is getting into the color tablet game. The online retail giant announced that it will release its first-ever color Kindle. The announcement came as part of a sweeping new product release for the line, which also included new models of the Amazon Scribe, Kindle Paperwhite, and the 12th-generation Kindle. The Kindle Colorsoft will provide users with crystal clear color images, even when they zoom in on the screen. The product will be priced at $279 and ship on Oct. 30. 

With the election 19 days out, Vice President Kamala Harris continues to expand her media presence in the last few weeks ahead of the big day. On Thursday, she released a video with NBA stars Chris Paul and CJ McCollum. In the conversation, Harris addresses issues specifically of interest to the Black male voting population and offers strategies for folks to get to the polls. The video dropped just a week after Harris went on Alexandra Cooper’s wildly popular Call Her Daddy podcast while also sitting down with 60 Minutes and radio host Charlamagne Tha God in separate interviews.

ESPN’s basketball coverage will continue to shine. The network announced on Thursday that it has secured multi-year extensions with two of its star hoops talents, Monica McNutt and Chiney Ogwumike. Ogwumike made history as the first-ever full-time analyst who took on the role while she was still playing in the WNBA. McNutt will take on new responsibilities with her extension, including expanded appearances on WNBA live event coverage and continuing her sideline presence throughout the NBA season. Ahead of Tuesday’s NBA tipoff, ESPN also announced that it signed extensions with Kendrick Perkins and Tim Legler. 

As NBCUniversal continues to battle the impact of cord-cutting, the media conglomerate has found a new opportunity in its streaming service. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Peacock will stream local live sports as soon as 2025. The development is the most recent in the long-standing evolution of regional sports networks. Peacock struck a deal with RSNs in four major markets, including Philadelphia and Boston. The agreement comes soon after NBCUniversal secured the rights to 100 games as part of the sweeping NBA media rights package.
