Blake Griffin is taking his sports commentary to late night with The Stepback With Blake Griffin, a new weekly show coming to Prime Video and YouTube. Produced with Wondery, the series will tackle topics including gambling, NIL, stadium funding, analytics, and the state of sports media, blending comedy with Griffinโ€™s perspective as a former NBA All-Star. The show premieres Oct. 20, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday throughout the NBA season.

Rockstar Games has broken its silence on the recent GTA VI leaks over the last week, confirming the footage is legitimate and calling the breach โ€œheartbreakingโ€ for its team. The company apologized for the lengthy wait and said the game is โ€œnearly there,โ€ promising to exceed expectations with its official gameplay reveal. Despite Rockstarโ€™s statement, leaker Cyberleek continued posting footage, releasing a 15th clip on Wednesday. The long-awaited official reveal remains scheduled for Thursday on Netflix.

Unrivaledโ€™s valuation has nearly doubled to $650 million after the professional 3-on-3 womenโ€™s basketball league closed a Series C funding round of more than $100 million. Led by Ten Pillars Sports Fund, the round includes investments from Carmelo Anthony, Alex Morgan, and Geno Auriemma. After drawing more than 21,000 fans in Philadelphia, Unrivaled plans to quadruple its tour stops for the 2027 season, using the new capital to expand into more markets and boost marketing.

Jay-Z is bringing his story to HBO this fall. The network has released the official trailer for Jay-Z in 8, a new eight-part documentary series featuring the rapper in conversation with legendary producer Rick Rubin about his music, lyrics, and influence on hip-hop. The first two episodes will premiere back-to-back on Sept. 18, with two new episodes dropping every Friday through the Oct. 9 finale. The series is directed by Rubin.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup delivered a $3.5 billion economic boost across New York and New Jersey, exceeding initial projections by $200 million. The tournament generated $1.9 billion in direct economic activity, supported 27,424 jobs, and produced $414 million in tax revenue. More than 645,000 fans attended eight matches, while another 626,300 visitors traveled to the region for World Cup-related events. Lodging, food and beverage, retail, and transportation businesses saw billions in combined spending.

Meta has agreed to a landmark $17 billion settlement with 47 states over allegations that Facebook and Instagram contributed to teen social media addiction and harmed youth mental health. The agreement, which requires court approval, will also bring tougher child-safety measures, including enhanced parental controls and other protections for young users. The deal ends a closely watched trial that accused Meta of intentionally designing features to keep children engaged while downplaying the risks associated with its platforms.

The NFL is scrapping the Pro Bowl as a game. Beginning next year, the league will instead treat the Pro Bowl as an individual honor, with 88 players selected through the existing fan, player, and coach voting process. Alternates will no longer be recognized. Pro Bowlers will be invited to Los Angeles for a February celebration, shifting the focus from an increasingly low-stakes exhibition to honoring the leagueโ€™s top performers.

Chris Hansen is making sure audiences hear from him before they see his story on the big screen. The former Dateline NBC correspondent has purchased preshow advertising across every theater screening A24โ€™s Primetime, using the spot to promote his TruBlu streaming network. The film stars Robert Pattinson as Hansen and explores the journalistโ€™s infamous predator investigations. Primetime will premiere at Venice on Sept. 5 before opening in theaters Sept. 25.

Michael Jordanโ€™s iconic Ferrari is heading to auction after disappearing for more than two decades. The 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello, famously driven by Jordan after the Bullsโ€™ 1997 championship, was rediscovered in California following a decade-long search. Customized to fit the 6-foot-6 star, the car also inspired Nikeโ€™s Air Jordan 14. Joopiter and Curated will auction the Ferrari from Sept. 15-30, with an estimated value of up to $1.3 million.

Nvidiaโ€™s AI-fueled growth shows little sign of slowing. The chip giant reported $96.2 billion in fiscal Q2 revenue on Wednesday, up 106% year over year and ahead of Wall Streetโ€™s $92.2 billion estimate. Data center sales surged 117% to $89 billion, while Nvidia projected $108 billion in revenue for the current quarter, again topping expectations. CEO Jensen Huang said the AI buildout has entered a โ€œgolden ageโ€ as demand expands beyond major hyperscalers.

State Farm is adding some fresh faces to its football roster, with No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza and second-year Giants RB Cam Skattebo joining longtime pitchman Patrick Mahomes in the insurance brandโ€™s latest campaign. Andy Reid and Curt Cignetti are also along for the ride, as the new spots lean into the idea that every fan experiences football differently. The campaign brings back State Farmโ€™s โ€œPersonal Price Planโ€ and rolls out across broadcast platforms in early September.

Netflix is expanding the Top Boy universe with two new series. Jonny Boy, a five-episode prequel starring Barry Keoghan, will explore the origins of his character, Irish mob enforcer Jonny McGee, with production set for 2027. The streamer is also developing a spinoff centered on Jaq, played by Jasmine Jobson. Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett will write and executive produce Jonny Boy, with Keoghan also serving as an executive producer.

The NWSL is expanding its streaming reach through a new deal with Roku. The Roku Sports Channel will exclusively carry eight Sunday night matches to close out the 2026 season, followed by 25 games in 2027. The agreement gives Roku its most prominent sports rights package yet, adding to deals with the X Games and Formula E. The partnership also builds on Rokuโ€™s existing NWSL Zone, which offers highlights, replays, and league content.
