Mariah Carey will receive the MTV VMAs2025 Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her hits during the show on Sept. 7, airing live from New York’s UBS Arena. Hosted by LL COOL J, this marks Carey’s first VMAs appearance in 20 years – a full-circle moment, as she once presented the same award to LL COOL J in 1997. The honor recognizes her lasting impact on music videos and pop culture.

The Chicago Bulls will retire Derrick Rose’s No. 1 jersey on Jan. 24, 2026, in a ceremony following their game against the Boston Celtics. Netflix is debuting a new “Your Zodiac Watchlist” hub on Sunday, offering show and movie suggestions based on each astrological sign. Updated throughout the zodiac calendar, the feature pitches themed content to match the personality traits of each sign, like mysteries for Scorpios or royal dramas for Leos. All users can explore recommendations for every sign, no personal birthdate required.

Off Season, the sports fashion brand co-founded by Kristin Juszczyk and Emma Grede, is launching its first WNBA collaboration on Sept. 4. The collection, featuring teams like the Golden State Valkyries and reigning champs the New York Liberty, includes modern, premium fanwear in women’s and unisex styles, priced between $110 and $185. Available online at the Off Season, WNBA, and Fanatics websites, the launch continues the brand’s mission to elevate fanwear following its successful NFL debut.

NBC Sports set a new U.S. audience record for the Premier League’s opening weekend, averaging 850,000 viewers across six matches from Aug. 15-17 – a 4% increase over the previous record in 2024. The Manchester United vs. Arsenal match drew 2 million viewers, making it the most-watched opening weekend match ever in the U.S. and the second most-watched Premier League match overall.

Tech start-up Halo is developing AI-powered smart glasses that continuously listen, record, and transcribe conversations, displaying relevant info to the wearer in real time. Co-founders Caine Ardayfio and AnhPhu Nguyen have raised $1 million, led by Pillar VC with backing from Soma Capital, Village Global, and Morningside Venture. Priced at $249, the Halo X glasses will be available for preorder beginning Wednesday. The current model includes a microphone and display, but no camera, though future versions may add one.

Apple is raising the monthly price of Apple TV+ to $12.99, a 30% jump from the previous $9.99 rate. The new price takes effect Thursday for new users and will apply to existing subscribers 30 days after their next renewal. The annual plan remains at $99.99, and Apple One bundle pricing is unchanged. This marks the third price hike since Apple TV+ launched in 2019 at $4.99/month.

A remastered version of The Beatles Anthology, the iconic 1990s music documentary series, will premiere Nov. 30 on Disney+, marking 30 years since its original broadcast. The project will include digitally enhanced versions of all eight original episodes plus a brand-new ninth episode, featuring previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr during the original release period. Alongside the remastered series, an album of rare and unreleased recordings curated by Giles Martin, son of producer George Martin, will also be released.

Happy Gilmore 2 is smashing streaming records, becoming the most-watched movie in the U.S. for the week of July 21–27 with 2.9 billion viewing minutes, per Nielsen. The comedy sequel, which debuted on Netflix on July 25, now holds the record for the biggest single-week movie debut in Nielsen’s streaming top 10 history, surpassing Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery‘s 2.2 billion minutes from 2023. It also marks the strongest streaming debut for an Adam Sandler film. 

DIALLO, the clothing brand co-founded by athlete-stylist Dex Robinson and Jets QB Tyrod Taylor, recently unveiled “Act III: Echoes of Legacy,” a new collection celebrating Black labor, community, and American style through a modern lens. DIALLO was created to better serve athletic builds overlooked by mainstream brands.
