Aaron Judge Signs With Jordan Brand

It’s been a big week for the Jumpman Brand. Aaron Judge joins Jalen Hurts as one of Jordan Brand‘s newest marquee signings. The New York Yankees slugger debuted the news by recreating MJ’s iconic ring portrait. With the news, Judge becomes the newest member of an Air Jordan MLB stable that also includes Mookie Betts, Manny Machado, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Lil Nas X to Debut Tour Documentary at Toronto Film Festival

Lil Nas X is ready for his film festival close-up. The “Industry Baby” singer announced that he will premiere his concert tour documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. The doc, directed by Carlos López Estrada and Zac Manuel, was embedded with Lil Nas X (aka Montero Hill) during 60 days of his ‘Long Live Montero‘ tour. The 34-stop tour spanned North America, South America, and Europe. The festival kicks off on Sept. 7.

Wrestlemania 40 Sets New Gate Record on First Day of Sales

Wrestlemania 40 is coming to Philadelphia in 2024. Although the event is nearly a full calendar year away, fans flooded ticket sites as sales went live. On the first day of availability, the April 2024 event eclipsed the $21.5 million gate record previously set by Wrestlemania 39 in LA. Thus far, WWE has sold more than 90,000 tickets for the two-day affair, which is set to take place at Lincoln Financial Field.

Limited Jay-Z Card Collection Attracts Surge of New Patrons to Brooklyn Library

New Yorkers continue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop well after its official date, which took place on Aug. 11. Across the city and its five boroughs, several municipal institutions are paying homage to a number of rappers born and bred in the city that never sleeps. For example, the MTA unveiled a new line of Metrocards featuring New York legends, including Cam’ron, Rakim, and LL Cool J. Now, the Brooklyn Library has seen a surge in patrons due to its Jay-Z card collection. Library supporters are lining up to gather each of the 13 limited-edition collectible cards, which commemorate the Marcy Housing Projects‘ most famous one-time resident. The cards feature each of Hov‘s 13 solo album covers and correspond with the “Book of Hov” exhibit. Thus far, more than 11,000 new accounts have been created.

USWNT GM Departs Following World Cup Disappointment

Things are changing at US Soccer. Reports have emerged that the US women’s national team general manager Kate Markgraf plans to leave her post. The news, first reported by The Equalizer, suggests that Markgraf was planning her exit prior to the team’s disappointing loss in the round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Earlier this week, head coach Vlatko Andonovski stepped down from his position after yielding hefty criticism as to how he handled the squad. Markgraf first joined the team in 2019, taking on the role, which was the first of its kind for the national squad.
