LeBron James is taking his love of golf to YouTube, launching a new channel with a 90-plus-minute video featuring a reunion of the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers in Scotland. Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson, and Channing Frye joined James for the trip. The venture follows James’ growing interest in golf and his goal of making the sport more accessible to kids from underserved communities.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially crossed $2 billion at the global box office, reaching the milestone in just 17 days, second-fastest ever behind Avengers: Endgame. The Tom Holland-led blockbuster has earned $785.8 million domestically and $1.236 billion internationally, making it the eighth film in history to surpass $2 billion. Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey added $121.4 million worldwide this weekend, pushing its global total to $1.29 billion and surpassing $500 million stateside.

The Buss family is exiting the Lakers after 47 years of ownership, reportedly selling its remaining 17.8% stake to new majority owners Josh Kushner and Bob Iger. The deal ends Jeanie Buss’ 13-year run as team governor, as NBA rules require governors to own at least 15% of a team. Jerry Buss bought the Lakers in 1979, and the team went on to win 11 championships during the family’s tenure, most recently in 2020. Kushner and Iger will now control roughly 83% of the franchise.

Ohio State will enter the 2026 college football season as the AP Top 25’s preseason No. 1, earning 40 of 69 first-place votes. Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Texas round out the top five, while defending national champion Indiana checks in at No. 6. The Big Ten leads all conferences with eight ranked teams, followed by nine from the SEC. Week 0 arrives in less than two weeks, highlighted by North Carolina and TCU kicking off from Dublin.

Diana Taurasi’s legendary career received a fitting sneaker tribute. Phoenix Mercury owner Mat Ishbia gifted Taurasi a one-of-one pair of custom Nikes celebrating her Ring of Honor induction on Sunday night. The shoes blend elements from Kobe Bryant’s Nike Air Force 1 with the Nike LeBron 8 and LeBron 10, nodding to Taurasi’s “White Mamba” nickname and her history wearing LeBron sneakers. Johnny Depp could be returning as Captain Jack Sparrow. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed discussions are underway with Depp for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, with a screenplay in development. The next installment is expected to shift its focus toward Margot Robbie’s character while keeping Sparrow in a supporting role. The franchise has generated $4.5 billion across five films. Bruckheimer also urged Paramount to remain in California as the studio weighs a potential relocation.

Google is expanding its soccer partnerships with Arsenal and Liverpool, naming Gemini their official AI partner while extending Google Pixel’s role as mobile phone partner. The deals will bring fans AI-powered tools, personalized experiences, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content. Gemini will help supporters plan matchdays, analyze signings, and settle debates, while Pixel will capture content from the clubs’ men’s and women’s teams. Liverpool’s partnership has already generated more than 1 billion video views.

Paramount Skydance is asking states challenging its proposed $111 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery to post a $1.88 billion bond while the antitrust case plays out. The company argues the bond would cover financial damages if the states ultimately lose, citing costs tied to delaying the deal. Paramount says all global regulators, including the U.S. Department of Justice, have approved the transaction, leaving the state lawsuit as the final major obstacle to closing.

Scottie Scheffler is closing in on Tiger Woods’ all-time PGA Tour earnings record after winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The $3.6 million victory pushed Scheffler to $119.96 million in career earnings, just $1 million behind Woods and past Rory McIlroy, who now sits at $116.49 million. Scheffler dominated in Memphis, finishing 17-under and eight strokes ahead of Si Woo Kim. He can pass Woods next week with a ninth-place finish or better.

Whitney Peak is joining Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in Miami Vice ’85, Universal’s new take on the iconic 1980s series. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Dan Gilroy, the film will revisit mid-’80s Miami through a story of glamour and corruption, with production beginning this year. The IMAX feature is slated for May 19, 2028. Alden Ehrenreich also recently joined the cast, adding to the film’s star power.

Ferrari’s first fully electric car just made history. A bespoke “Chassis 0” version of the Luce sold for $40 million at a charity auction during Monterey Car Week, setting a record for the most expensive new car ever sold at auction. The one-of-one model fetched 36 times its $1.1 million estimate, with proceeds benefiting The Ferrari Foundation’s educational initiatives. The production Luce starts at roughly $640,000, with deliveries expected later this year.

Connor McDavid has officially reached a new level. EA Sports gave the Edmonton Oilers superstar a 99 overall rating in NHL 27, making him the first player in the game’s history to join the game’s exclusive 99 Club. McDavid earned the honor after leading the NHL with 138 points and capturing his sixth Art Ross Trophy in 2025-26. NHL 27 launches Sept. 11, with early access beginning Sept. 4 for the deluxe edition.

Back to golf, the PGA Tour is leaning into comedy with PGA Tour Alter Ego, a new unscripted series produced with Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions. The show debuts Tuesday across the Tour’s YouTube and digital channels, with Wyndham Clark going undercover to prank fans and fellow players, followed by an episode featuring Max Homa. The series is part of a broader content push designed to reach younger audiences through comedy, YouTube, gaming and other entertainment formats.

HBO is bringing Pennywise back, renewing It: Welcome to Derry for a second season. Brad Caleb Kane, who co-ran Season 1 with Jason Fuchs, will serve as sole showrunner for the next chapter. Set in Stephen King’s It universe, Season 2 will jump to 1935 and center on the Bradley Gang massacre, as a group of bank robbers encounters supernatural horror in Derry. Bill Skarsgård is expected to return as Pennywise.
