Former President Barack Obama is stepping behind the microphone for his first podcast as a solo host. A Great Book with Barack Obama will feature the former president discussing six books that shaped his worldview, including works by James Baldwin, Toni Morrison, and Cormac McCarthy. The six-episode series is the latest project from Obama and Michelle Obamaโ€™s Higher Ground partnership with Audible and will debut exclusively on the platform Sept. 24, giving listeners a personal look at the literature that influenced Obama.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is reportedly closing in on a deal to buy a roughly one-third stake in Liverpool FC. Bezos would join an investor group led by Amit Bhatia and including Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. The deal could be announced as soon as this week and would value the Premier League club at roughly $6 billion. The investment would make Bezos, Saverin, and Bhatia minority co-owners alongside Fenway Sports Group, Liverpoolโ€™s controlling owner since 2010.

Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakurโ€™s death, his murder case is finally headed to trial. Jury selection begins Monday in Las Vegas for Duane โ€œKeffe Dโ€ Davis, who was arrested in 2023 and charged with orchestrating the 1996 drive-by shooting that killed the rap icon. Davis has pleaded not guilty and is accused of supplying the weapon and helping plan the attack, rather than firing the gun. The trial is expected to last about a month.

KITH founder Ronnie Fieg is bringing BMWโ€™s classic era back in vivid orange. For the fourth chapter of KITHโ€™s BMW partnership, Fieg and BMW restored a 1972 3.0 CSi and 1987 M6, both finished in the iconic Inka Orange and fitted with custom caramel leather KITH interiors. The one-off cars anchor the broader KITH for BMW collection, which launches globally Aug. 17 across KITH stores, online and its app.

50 Cent is taking his crime-story expertise to the world of video game adaptations. Curtis โ€œ50 Centโ€ Jackson has joined the TV adaptation of Payday as an executive producer through his G-Unit Film & Television banner. The series is being developed with Vice Studios and game developer Starbreeze Entertainment, though no network, streamer, or writer is attached yet. Known for executive producing Starzโ€™s Power franchise and BMF, Jackson is adding another high-profile crime project to his growing TV portfolio.

Larry Fitzgerald is getting one more permanent place in Cardinals history. Arizona will retire Fitzgeraldโ€™s No. 11 jersey and induct him into the teamโ€™s Ring of Honor during halftime of its Oct. 25 game against the Broncos. Fitzgerald spent all 17 NFL seasons with the Cardinals, finishing his career with 1,432 catches, 17,492 receiving yards, and 121 touchdowns. The first-ballot Hall of Famer will become just the sixth player in franchise history to have his number retired.

Back to Fenway Sports Group, the sports conglomerate is making its first foray into womenโ€™s professional golf. FSG has acquired Boston Common Golf, making it one of five inaugural teams in the Women’s Tomorrow’s Golf League (WTGL), the new womenโ€™s indoor professional league launching this fall in partnership with the LPGA. The move builds on FSGโ€™s existing partnership with the LPGA and investment in TMRW Sports. Boston Common will also continue its community efforts to grow golf access for girls and women across New England.

Ariana Grande is back on top. Her latest album, Petal, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 295,000 equivalent album units, marking her biggest opening week since 2019. The project generated 168,000 traditional album sales, including 96,000 vinyl copies, and 126,000 streaming-equivalent units. Petal gives Grande her seventh No. 1 album and the sixth-biggest debut of 2026, trailing only releases from BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Drake, Harry Styles, and Noah Kahan.

Apple is bringing Major League Baseball into the VR era. The company will stream four upcoming games in an immersive format for Apple Vision Pro users, starting with YankeesRed Sox on Aug. 28. The broadcasts will feature 8K 3D video, a 180-degree field of view and spatial audio designed to put fans closer to the action. The games will also be available in 2D on Apple TV, giving Apple another test case for immersive sports viewing.

Disney is making a bigger play for video podcasts. The company has struck a deal with iHeartMedia to bring six shows to Disney+ and Hulu, expanding its growing podcast lineup. The slate includes Hey Jonas! from the Jonas Brothers, Pod Meets World, Desperately Devoted, and Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald. The partnership marks another step in Disneyโ€™s push to make podcasts part of the streaming experience, with titles arriving beginning Aug. 14.

In other Apple product news, the tech giant may be ready to rethink the Apple Watch. After more than a decade of incremental updates, the company is exploring a broader redesign as screen-free fitness trackers and smart rings gain traction. The near-term Series 12 and Ultra 4 will bring performance, health, and cosmetic upgrades, but Appleโ€™s design team is reportedly evaluating bigger changes for future generations. The shift would mirror the companyโ€™s push to reinvent the iPhone with its upcoming foldable model.
