With less than two months until the 76th Emmy Awards, nominations for the ceremony honoring those in television were revealed Wednesday. The Bear set a new record for nominations in a single year in the comedy category with an impressive 23 nods while Shōgun led this year’s drama category with 25. As a platform, Netflix had the most overall with 107. In total, there are 36 first-time performer nominees, including Jonathan Bailey, Dakota Fanning, Lily Gladstone, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Paul Rudd, and Ryan Gosling.

Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham is the cover athlete of EA Sports FC 25, appearing on both the Standard and Ultimate Edition of the game. At 21 years old, Bellingham is the youngest player to be featured on the front of the popular soccer gaming franchise. EA Sports FC 25 will also introduce women’s football into the career modes for the first time in history with England’s Women’s Super League, the NWSL, and the top leagues in France, Spain, and Germany. FC 25 will be available on Sept. 27.

In its first-ever apparel acquisition, EssilorLuxottica confirmed Wednesday that it purchased streetwear brand Supreme for $1.5 billion in cash from VF Corp, who had previously bought the company for $2.1 billion in 2020. Supreme “perfectly aligns with our innovation and development journey, offering us a direct connection to new audiences, languages and creativity,” EssilorLuxottica said in a statement. Founded in 2018, EssilorLuxottica is headquartered in France and produces eyewear for Oliver Peoples, Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Persol. It also has licensing agreements with Chanel, Coach, and Dolce & Gabbana.

Disney CEO Bob Iger and his wife, Willow Bay, the Dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, have officially agreed to become controlling owners of Angel City FC in a deal that values the club at $250 million, the club announced Wednesday. With the new agreement, the NWSL club is now the most valuable women’s sports team in the world. The club added that Bay and Iger will invest an additional $50 million in the club’s future growth. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Angel City’s original controlling owner, will still serve on the team’s Board of Directors.

The Weeknd will perform a special, “one-night-only” concert in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 7, the superstar artist announced on Instagram on Wednesday. To be held at Estádio MorumBIS, the event announcement promises “never-before-seen production.” Tickets for the concert go on sale to the general public on July 25 and will be produced by Live Nation. 

Ahead of WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, AT&T announced new collaborations on Wednesday with A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu, and Kamilla Cardoso. Wilson and Ionescu will participate in a new mentorship-focused content series and contest, “Beyond the Bleachers,” while AT&T added Cardoso to its star-studded “She’s Connected” roster – a storytelling campaign featuring athletes aimed at inspiring women entrepreneurs. Fans can enter for a chance to receive 1:1 mentorship from Wilson and Ionescu through “Beyond the Bleachers” starting Wednesday.
