Pharrell to Host Pre-Olympics Event with LVMH, Serena Williams & More 

Pharrell Williams is confirmed to co-host a pre-Olympics “exclusive gathering” at Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, Vogue shared on Thursday. Headlining the event with Pharrell are LVMH boss Bernard Arnault, Comcast’s Brian Roberts, and Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. Serena Williams, Rosalía, Charlize Theron, and Omar Sy are listed as additional co-hosts, while the “guest list includes artists, performers, and legendary athletes.” Festivities are scheduled for July 25, the day before the Opening Ceremony in Paris.

Jordan Brand Announces Quest to Crown ‘The One’

It’s the Summer of Basketball for Jordan Brand. Ahead of the Paris Olympics, the brand announced that it will bring together some of the top talent in youth basketball for an exclusive 1v1 tournament inspired by MJ’s own backyard battles with his brother, Larry. Competitions will take place in 10 cities across the globe, sending 20 men and women to Paris to vie for the crown of “The One.” The championship games will go down at Square Leon in the 18th arrondissement, where Jordan Brand will also host its District 23 pop-up on July 26 and stream live on Twitch. Martin Lawrence Producing Prequel to ‘Martin’

Martin Lawrence is turning back the clock. In a prequel to the popular 1990s sitcom, Lawrence and his entertainment company RunTelDat are producing a new drama series called Young Martin. The new show, produced in collaboration with Marvin Peart’s WonderHill Studios, will follow the reimagined main character, Martin Payne, during his teenage years in Detroit. The original Martin show starring Lawrence aired on Fox from 1992 to 1997.

Bill Belichick Joining CW's ‘Inside the NFL’  

Bill Belichick may be absent from the sidelines this NFL season, but he’s lined up a new gig that will allow him to showcase his football genius. The eight-time Super Bowl champion coach will join the desk on CW’s Inside the NFLBelichick will lock in with two of his former players, Chad Johnson and Chris Long, as well as Ryan Clark. Belichick made his sports media debut at this year’s NFL Draft, which brought in high praise across the industry.

Monthly Inflation Rate Drops for First Time in 4 Years

A Thursday report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the monthly inflation rate dipped in June for the first time in more than four years, signaling some good news on the inflation front. The consumer price index (CPI) dropped 0.1% from May, putting the 12-month rate at 3%, around its lowest level in more than three years. In the 12 months through June, the CPI rose 3%, the smallest gain since June 2023. Finally, the CPI revealed a 3.8% drop in gas prices, which followed a 3.6% dip in May. Shelter costs, which include rent, increased 0.2% after advancing 0.4% in May.

Allyson Felix Using $20M Grant, New Olympics Initiative to Support Mothers

This year, the Athlete Village Plaza at the Paris Olympics will boast new features designed specifically to support the mothers competing in this year’s games. Eleven-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix revealed on the CBS Morning Show that she is teaming up with Pampers to create a nursery where mothers can secure various resources and supports for their babies. Additionally, Felix confirmed in the interview that she has received a $20 million grant from Melinda French Gates to support Black maternal health.

Muhammad Ali Scripted Series is Coming to Amazon’s Prime Video

The late great boxing champion Muhammad Ali will be the subject of an upcoming scripted series on Prime Video after Amazon recently greenlit the project titled The Greatest. Amazon MGM Studios is teaming up with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, and more to produce the series. Actor Jaalen Best will play the role of Ali, who passed away at the age of 74 in 2016. A premiere date was not released.
